  1. Thanks Andy. This was quite simple. It actually worked the first time; for me that is good. Interesting to note the Windows 7 install took longer. You have to include the installation time of the 100 updates. I have a dual boot Lion and Windows 7 Ultimate. Pretty sweet! Regards, Freedomrock
  2. I think I can view DSDT file via terminal - ioreg. Would I just compare the two results trying to find something that would make a difference? Or is there some kind of DSDT tool (maybe in EDP)? I have not messed at all with DSDT so this is a new area. Thanks, Freedomrock
  3. Well I didn't want to overlook the obvious. It took me a few times to get this right and I have forgotten to install Chameleon in the past. I also have problems with Disk Utility formatting and restoring images to USB cards. This happened creating a Lion USB. You mentioned using this USB for other installs...did you reformat fresh for the OS X install? Maybe something left over from Windows? USBs are known to corrupt data over time. I will defer to others who know more but I would probably reformat the USB and start from scratch. I have used 8 GB and 32GB USB for install. So I don't think size is an issue. I am still new at this .... Good Luck, Freedomrock
  4. So no thoughts on how to get Sleep working in Snow Leopard? Thanks, Freedomrock
  5. Did you install Chameleon to the USB? It doesn't sound like it. Good Luck, Freedomrock
  6. The instructions are on the wiki link. http://www.osxlatitude.com/lion/ I suggest you read the instructions and then give it a try. You may try posting any follow up questions in an appropriate forum. This one is for Research. You may get more help. Good Luck, Freedomrock
  7. My D630 has been working great for the last couple of weeks. I applied the sleep fix posted on the wiki site and now sleep works fine on my Lion install. I did everything the same for my 10.6.3 SL install and it doesn't work. This is a dual boot D630. I ran the exact same terminal commands and applied system bios password. I turned on Virtual Memory in SL. Lion did not have that option. I have Sleep Enabler Ketch installed for both. I used EDP 1.9.2 for SL and EDP 2.2 for Lion. The Extra folders look identical. Any suggestions on things to check. I retried several times and even tried pasting commands. Repaired permissions, rebooted. It worked right away in Lion but SL goes to sleep, no blinking light, and requires power button restart. Thanks in advance and I hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday Season! Freedomrock
  8. Have you checked out the Wiki link? I am not sure about your model but there is a Supported Models Link. Then follow the Wiki instructions for installing Lion. It took me a few times but it does work. I used the MyHack method described in the wiki. Good Luck! Freedomrock
  9. For some reason I could not post reply to the original thread. Hopefully I am not out of line in starting another thread....maybe you didn't want feedback from noobs. A. Model D630 1.8 ghz, Intel GMA B. Nullcpu - Yes C. Sleepenabler - Yes D. PS2 Pack - 3 E. Emulated Speedstep - Yes F. Voodoo TSC - Yes G. Apple HDA Disabler - Yes H. Specific Version of Chameleon - No I, Custom kernel - No Lion 7.2 using EDP 2.2
  10. Andy, I currently have a dual boot OSX SL and Lion D630. If I added Windows 7 as a 3rd option do you think installing as you describe will work? Thanks, Freedomrock
  11. Thanks for putting together this site. After a few stumbles my D630 w/Intel Graphics runs 10.6.3 and 10.7.2 in dual boot set up. SL runs faster so I am not going to upgrade to Lion. Down the road if you need beta testers I would be willing to help out. The second partition will come in handy for testing new builds. Regards, Freedomrock
  12. Thanks I did use EDP 2.2 for Lion. Install went fine it just boots up slow and runs slower in general than my 6.3.3 build. I did use 1.9 for Snow Leopard. Geekbench of 1610 with Lion verses 1780 SL 10.6.3. I am learning.... I do like having the dual boot set up. I think for now I am going to stick with SL 10.6.3 as my main system. I can see everything on my network and it is fast and stable. I have a MacMini Server running Lion Server and it runs slower than SL Server. Lion runs slower than SL, just the way it is I guess. To the Masters running this site....if you need beta testers for new software revs let me know. I will keep this partition for new builds. Regards, Freedomrock
  13. Yes both Lion 10.7.2 and Snow Leopard 10.6.3 are running. My D630 Geek Bench scores were posted for both Lion and Snow Leopard. Scroll up......Lion is slower than Snow Leopard just like my real Mac. However is was faster than Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I did the combo update from 10.6.3 and something happened. The system was buggy and very slow. I did not bother to geek bench the 10.6.8 SL install. I don't think you are supposed to use EDP 2.2 for Snow Leopard so I used 1.9.2. Make sense?
  14. Nope, EDP 1.9.2 for 10.6.3. I added extra keyboard kexts for the 10.6.3 install using 1.9.2. I listed kexts for both installs (see above). Trust me it didn't work for me the first time or two or three ......sorry for any confusion. Good Luck!
  15. I misspoke, I used only kexts from Edp 2.2 including keyboard. I tried some different keyboard kext for 6.3. Extra kexts pasted below. AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext AppleHDADisabler.kext BCM5722D.kext FakeSMC.kext IntelCPUMonitor.kext IOAudioFamily.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OSvKernDSPLib.kext VoodooHDA.kext VoodooPS2Controller.kext VoodooTSCSync.kext In EDP I selected option for D630 Intel, Vodoo PS2 and yes for every thing else. Edit - Correction the above Kexts are for 10.6.3 install. Below are for the Lion 10.7.2 install. I have 3 Macs in front of me and I am having a hard time keeping them straight. AppleHDADisabler.kext BCM5722D.kext FakeSMC.kext IntelCPUMonitor.kext IOAudioFamily.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OSvKernDSPLib.kext SleepEnabler.kext VoodooBattery.kext VoodooHDA.kext VoodooMonitor.kext VoodooPowerMini.kext VoodooPS2Controller.kext VoodooPS2Keyboard.kext Regards, Freedomrock
  16. Geekbench Score Lion 10.7.2 of 2601; Integer 2407, Floating Point 3676, Memory 2034, Stream 1913. I guess I could export save as pdf and attach if you need more info. This is on a D630, T7100, Intel Graphics, A17 bios, 1395 wi-fi (working) 4 MB RAM, 500 GB Seagate Hybrid Drive. I installed using myHack method, EDP 2.2 using Lion install image I saved from prior Mac Download for my Mini Server. I removed zero kext. EDP options , 6 - D630 Intel, Apple PS2, and yes for everything else. I selected Graphic enabler in Wizard. I then reinstalled a different keyboard kext supplied on this forum that works better. Rebuilt, Repair, Rinse, Repeat .... The Geekbench score for the same system running 6.6.3 was 2780. I didn't bother running 6.6.8 after combo update because it was so slow. Hope this helps, Freedomrock
  17. Just as a follow up I did not re-install Chameleon. I was not able to boot off the second partition. I re-installed Chameleon using EDP Wizard and selected the option for dual boot osx and all is well. It take lion almost twice as long to boot up verses 6.6.3. Once up and running is is just a little slower. Thanks again, Freedomrock
  18. Thanks, I will give it a shot. Freedomrock Edit - Everything went fine on the install. I can boot into OSX 10.6.3 or 10.6.8. I lose wifi on 10.6.8 but I have an idea on how to make it work. The problem is 10.6.8 is so slow it is barely usable. Just clicking the Apple Menu generates a "beach ball" and then the pull down menu will open. Running 10.6.3 the laptop is very responsive. I installed using USB, Supported Model Boot Pack, Chameleon download (from wiki) and 10.6.3 retail disk. Any thoughts on why I am experiencing such a slowdown? I am using Edp 1.9.2. This is all on a D630, A17 Bios, 1.8 Duo, Intel Graphics, 4 MB RAM, 1395 Dell Wifi. Edit - After a couple of re-boots and re-pairing permissions system ran great and wifi even showed up active. Re-booted again and lost wi-fi and everything runs very slow. My 6.6.3 install on other partition runs great. I am at a loss .....
  19. I followed the wiki (thanks wiki masters!)and have a D630 with Intel graphics up and running osx 6.6.3 using EDP 1.9.2. I tried a combo update and everything went fine except it was slow and I lost wifi (1395 Dell). I rolled back to 6.6.3 and all is well again. I didn't feel like trouble shooting but I don't want to give up on upgrading. I am thinking I can use Disk Utility to format an additional partition(s) for test installs of 6.8 or Lion. Do I just repeat the process for installing SL on the added partition? Will Chameleon provide option at boot for drives? What extra steps are needed? If I used to Myhack method for Lion as described in wiki is anything different for dual boot? The USB part seems easy enough. If this is a bad idea I could use an external USB drive for testing purposes but my internal 7200 rpm HD is much faster. I posted this in the general forum thinking the solution would not be specific to D630 and hopefully get a response or two. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance! Freedomrock
  20. Thanks to the files on this site and tips in this forum (and other forums) my D630 with Intel Video and Dell 1395 wifi is up and running. I was able to get my 1395 Dell wi-fi card to work (after I ordered a replacement ) without re-branding. I may change card out if i decide for duel boot with Unix but it turns out I didn't need a new card for OSX. There were tips in the forum for adding wi-fi card to id string via terminal. As part of the upgrade process I installed a 500 GB Seagate Hybrid drive. This D630 is quite responsive with 4 mb of ram and OSX 10.6.3. Everything seems stable..... I am currently at 6.3.3. I would like to upgrade to 6.8.8. I plan on backing up my Extras folder and then applying upgrade. Do I just upgrade OSX and then do new build in EDP? Some final tweaks....on board video is limited to 1024 X 768. I think I should be able to get 1200 X 900 or something like that. Also using function key for external video was a no go. Any suggestions for external video (Intel) and/or higher resolution options? Is there a specific kext file or is this something in the dsdt file? A big thank you to all that had a part in putting this site together! Freedomrock Knoxville, TN USA Edit - The upgrade to 6.8.8 went ok. Somehow lost wireless (Dell 1395) even after I made the same changes that enabled card in 10.6.3. Everything is slower. I ran EDP 1.9.2 for D630 after osx upgrade. Cleared cache, re-built permissions, re-boot and it is still slow. Any suggestions? I may just roll back to 6.3 and be happy. Dell D630, Intel Video, Dell 1395 wifi, EDP 1.9.2 (Everything worked on 6.3.3) Edit - Reinstalled 6.3.3 with EDP 1.9.2 and everything works including my 1395 wifi card. I still only have 1024 X768 resolution. Should I try Graphics Enabler on Lizard?
  21. check your email. Thanks again! Thank You Raistlin5! I ran the installer and all is well. I have upgraded my hard drive and everything is running except wi-fi. The new drive does a full boot in 35 seconds. Not bad considering there is a boot loader and I need to hit enter. I will look into ordering a new card. Freedomrock
  22. Raistlin5 - Fresh install of 10.6.3 now has my trackpad working but no keyboard. I will take you up on your offer. I would love to try the file you mentioned. Freedomrock Dell D630, Intel Graphics, 1395 wifi card
  23. Yes thanks, bios for Trackpad is on. I started over with fresh install. Trackpad now works but keyboard does not. I tried all 4 kext options. I think the 1st option worked best. I repair permissions and restart after each build. Frustrating .....Any suggestions? This is a D630 with Intel graphics. Freedomrock - As a follow up...I removed the PS2 kexts installed into Extra by EDP. I used Kext Wizard and installed Alps keyboard/track pad kext. Keyboard works fine but trackpad is terrible. Freedomrock - Final follow up...Raistlin5 sent me keyboard kexts that worked perfect. I now have onboard keyboard and trackpad. I have a wi-fi card on order. I am sure I will have more questions.
  24. Thanks, I saw your other response. I did try all 4 mouse kext options. I must be doing something wrong. If you see my other response let me know if i am doing this process correctly? Also thanks for your offer. It sounds like I should make this work. If not I may ask you for the file you mention. Freedomrock
