  1. I tried all 4 options, tried all 3 intel bootpacks for Lion from the supported models, i even tried standing on my head i have a different wifi, but my bios option is off (otherwise no pen would boot and installed Os would KP). i also have a higher clock speed cpu than yours but I dont think that makes any diff...
  2. Hi, Using your bootpack I was able to get a bootable USB pen. Trouble is, no matter what I do, KB is still ignored in both the pen and the installed OS. Using the 'supported model' bootpack, the pen seems like it boots up but I end up with a blank screen. What is (are) the difference(s) between your bootpack and the one under 'supported models' ?
  3. hey Bronxtech I read stuff about dsdt.aml. can you point me to someplace i can read more about this? Also, if I use myHack with bootpack from 'supported models' to create a USB pen, do I need to do anything about that file? Do I need to massage this file any which way after installation?
  4. yes, i built the mkext AFTER I booted the new OS. However, the USB PEN I just build with the 'supported models' bootpack does not boot up for me. not even with a -x -f. actually it does, but it outputs video to the back connector only and there the video is stretched outside the screen so I can't really use it. has that happened to you? what controls whether the video goes out back or to the laptop's screen? my bios is all default except boot sequence, ACHI and Wifi disabled.
  5. sorry, i meant the video output in the back. no i am not docked...
  6. followed these instructions with my current pen. no keyboard. created yet another pen using myHack and bootpack from 'supported models' - boots into a blank screen, outputs grey mesh to the docking station's video port but nothing further. when I use -x -f -v, i get to start of install screen, but the HD does not show as install target, neither does it show on diskutil.
  7. which bootpack do you use? from the wiki? did you have to turn off the wifi when booting from the pen?
  8. 'do a build' - isn't this done by tool itself, after selecting 1, picking 6 for d630/intel and answering a few more selections, you are asked to confirm selections and when you say yes - it does the build, right?
  9. which bootpack do you use? from the wiki? did you have to turn off the wifi when booting from the pen?
  10. as much as I cruised around osxlatitude, there are at least 4 procedures to install lion 1. Wiki page - not d630 specific and it just did not work for me. 2. Maldon - not d630, missing one of the links. tried but did not get far. 3. Mariusz - did not work for me, maybe because i had intel wifi enabled at the time, not sure 4. Simeonoff(dazzler) - I used myHack as replacement for his step 1 and this did work for me. Simeonoff step 8 clearly says 'copy /Extra from the pen to the disk' or something to that effect. It is possible that the wiki page procedure would now work for me as I tried it a long time ago and possibly was tripped by the enabled wifi...
  11. so you are saying I should not copy the /Extra from the pen, rather I should just run edptool from /Extra that has been created by installing EDP 2.2 ? Installing EDP creates a /Extra ?
  12. you have done plenty just by posting and supporting, no need to be sorry and i thank you for your help so far.
  13. yes, i am well aware of that by now . it would have saved me a lot of time knowing that before I started. I have ordered a broadcom 4312 wifi card and hopefully this would resolve that issue. as for the keyboard issues i have been having - still no light at the end of that tunnel...
  14. I created the pen using myHack which allowed me to pick a /Extra (this is what you refer to as 'bootpack', right?). I picked the one i downloaded from Simeonoff (dazzler, dassler...), Once Os was installed, I copied this /Extra also to the target drive. I reboot - the keyboard is not recognized and I am asked to hit the Z and the / keys. This I can only do with the USB KB. Once first boot in the fresh OS was done, I ran /Extra/edptool... and selected 1,6,N,n,y where N stands for 1 through 4 ( I tried all KB kexts offered). KB still does not work. I then ran the kext wizard for both /Extra and S/L/E. I am assuming edptool adds stuff to /Extra rather then over-writes it... I am sure I did something wrong, out of order, but I don't know what... I did not see any D630 of users out there who had both Intel Graphics and Intel LAN/Wifi. I should mention I also tried to replace the the two kexts from this posts into S/L/E...
  15. well, no good news Am I supposed to disconnect the USB keyboard at any time during the setup and/or reboot?
  16. bios back to default minus: boot order (needs to boot off the pen) AHCI enabled Wifi is off there were no ApplePS2* VoodooPS2* in S/L/E. don't know what you mean by 'related'. there was ApplePS2keyboard.kext in /Extra/Extensios - moved it someplace safe, ran the kext wizard and rebooted -f and same result - kb not playing... i am concerned that backing to A09 may bring with it some other 'surprises'. Should I try now to swap your 2 kext's into my S/L/E ? (last time i tried it my machine would not boot, had to reboot into pen, and put back the orig's...)
  17. EDP - yes, answers 1 6 1 n y (but tried non-apple kb selection too). There's no kb selection in A17 that I can find - went through it so many times. PS/2 is mentioned in a number of places but neither is in connection to keyboard. It is mentioned as a parallel port protocol (non-factory-default). It is mentioned in mouse-keypad setups (POST). But nothing on KB. I wonder how A17 BIOS will interact with the new wifi module i will be plugging in. I hope this does not lead to flashing the BIOS...
  18. Nada - Mariusz's kexts did not help. kb and wifi still dead in the water. got me a new 4312 off ebay for $8.80 - no brainer, too bad it may take two weeks to get to me. The ethernet card seems to work so I hold on to that. For a while there, while I was flailing with Maruisz's kexts, my native kb came alive - went dead again after a reboot - dont know what i did to get it to work or kill it meanwhile, i will try to get the dual boot to work...
  19. i am not sure if it's a replaceable card, i thought this was integrated to the mother board. will look into it if the experiment with Maruisz's kext does not work out. I will try his dsdt as well because my native keyboard does not work. so i got ehternet, mousepad, audio and the 10.7.2 update all working. wireless and kb do not work and blue tooth i dont know how to test (and don't really care if it works or not... ) I appreciate the help.
  20. if I turn it back on in the bios after install, I still get KP. Is there a way to turn it on after being all booted up? sorry, I am not a very experienced Apple user but I did search long and wide for being able to turn it on after boot.
  21. I was able to install Lion on my D630 only after I disabled Wifi in bios. Enabling the Wifi gives me KP early. I used myHack and Simeonoff's Extra. After install, even after following Simeonoff (Dazzler, Dassler...) suggestions on modifying Info.plist, I keyboard is still unrecognized. I have no ethernet or audio. I have tried Mariusz (before I realized that my Wifi is giving me the KPs) and I was getting nowhere. Is there a kext for Intel integrated NIC?
  22. i was running -v to get the trace info. i also tried -x (safe mode) and -f (don't know what this is, some post referred to it, so i tried )
  23. i am trying to install Lion on D630/X3100/Intel WiFi. I followed your procedure (and the one you linked to from Maldon). When I boot from USB, I get a KP and the trace refers to some 'airportBrcm...'. How do I get around this? thanks in advance
  24. My Bios says I have 'Crestline' for video. Is this same as X3100?
