  1. Yes - this is most likely because you didnt run a myfix on the usb disk that contains the lion install, it happened to me aswell.
  2. Succes!! After editing the TjMax value to 100 for my Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, it reports temps correctly. I attached the kext if you want to use it. Thanks, Seb IntelCPUMonitor.kext.zip
  3. Hi, Any chance an admin could pin this topic? The tutorial has had some success so far and I thought it would be good if it was easy to find. Thanks, Seb
  4. Hi, For wifi, I would suggest replacing the wifi card with a dell 1390 for native support, most D630's come with them but your D630c not. But first take a look at this: http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ theres a download for your card that might work. For the battery, go through the EDP config and choose a different battery option (i think theres 3 different ones) and tell me if you have any luck with them. For ethernet: I am not sure which ethernet chip the D630c has (on the dell spec sheet is says both have the same), if you find out you might be able to get a kext for it, otherwise no ethernet. Thanks, Seb
  5. Glad there has been so much success with Mountain Lion so far! There are a few more slight issues that I thought I might point out, they aren't too big though: Mic doesn't work after sleeping, so to use dictation, dont sleep. Graphics Acceleration/Animations are slightly sluggish after waking from sleep The green wifi LED does not light up when on. Double tapping the Fn key doesn't work for starting dictation, change it to command key/custom Also, in ML and Lion OS X it has always said 'service battery' in the battery menu tab, even though I have a new battery in the machine. Is this because it compares the capacity with the model set (Macbook3,1) and notices it is lower? Anyone else notice this? Seb
  6. Glad you got yours working! The 2 finger scrolling is a bit strange, but I found I got used to it in a while. Instead of actually using 2 fingers, what worked for me was pushing one finger a bit flatter on the trackpad so there was more surface area of my finger on it. Now when you move your finger slightly up or down, it should scroll, it is quite sensitive though! Let me know if this works. Seb
  7. Hello, here is a guide I have made to help you easily install OS X Mountain Lion on your Dell, and for you to learn from my errors. The Mountain Lion Install is easier than the Lion one, and I always HIGHLY recommend making a time machine backup, and then doing a clean install of Mountain Lion. Making Installation Media: 1. Use myhack to create the installer on either a disk partition or flash drive (must be atleast 8GB) 2. Copy the extra folder supplied with this guide and replace any existing on the installer volume. 3. Be sure to run myfix on the volume, otherwise it will not boot. Installing Mountain Lion: 1. Boot from your installation media 2. Use disk utility to re-format your boot drive, and install Mountain Lion 3. When myHack asks which extra folder to use, point it to the same one supplied with this guide 4. Remove all kexts that myHack asks about. 5. It should now finish, and say that installer failed because it could not boot from the startup disk. 6. This is normal, just do a manual restart, and be sure to remove your installation media and boot from your hard drive. 7. Soon you will be welcomed with the initial setup, carry on through it. (You will need a USB keyboard and mouse for this bit) Getting it to work: 1. Once you are at your desktop download and install the latest version of EDP (3) 2. Launch EDP, and provide your password. 3. Choose 1 for Configuration, 9 for this model, and then use predefined values. 4. Confirm the installation, and reboot. 5. Now to get keyboard and trackpad working on the laptop, copy the 4 kexts supplied with this guide into System/Library/Extensions (it may give errors, just ignore) 6. Finally, run another myFix, and reboot. 7. Your Dell Latitude now has some Attitude!! Here is a quick video of the laptop running Mountain Lion: The only thing that doesn't work is the touchpoint, but with 2 finger scrolling, I cant complain! Hope this helped, if you have any questions or suggestions, please reply. Thanks, Seb Keyboard + Mouse Kexts.zip Extra.zip
  8. FIXED IT!!!! Because myhack only got so far with the myfix, it didn't get to merging the extra extensions with system extensions. I manually copied the ApplePS2 kext into system extensions, and bam, worked a treat, i even have 2 finger scrolling etc!!! Mountain lion is now working fine on my D630, not sure whether to make another guide or not, as it was much simpler than lion install - should I? Thanks, Seb
  9. Hi, I have tried all the different options in EDP for the PS2 kext and none work?!?! I must be doing something wrong as others seem to get it working fine. After i install aswell, the myhack doesn't go further than regenrating system caches - waiting for kernelcache, which takes 90/100% of CPU usage. Maybe its becuase i am using Mountain Lion GM rather than retail version? Thanks, Seb
  10. i managed to get keyboard working with option 0, but trackpad did random movements and was unusable. I havent added any more kexts other than using edp. I will try another re-install, thanks for the advice!!
  11. Hi, So i managed to get mountain lion installed, and ran EDP. Everything works BUT trackpad + keyboard which is most annoying. I have tried with option 0 and 4 with EDP with no success. Any tips on how to get them to work? Thanks, Seb
  12. Have you got keyboard and mouse working? I cant seem to - what settings did you use for edp? Seb
  13. Right, so I managed to install mountain lion, and it booted first time fine. Once i got to the desktop, i restarted, and then it wont boot now. It kernel panics due to IntelCPUMonitor: Cant add key to fake SMC device. I couldnt find this kext anywhere in extra or system/library/extensions - how do i remove it?? Thanks, Seb
  14. Below is the attached OSInstall.mpkg if anyone needs it. This is patched for computers with less then 1GB amount of ram! modified mountain lion osinstall .zip
  15. Yes, i discovered that already . I also had to modify the OSInstall.mpkg manually for the mountain lion installer so that is allowed my machine to run the installer. Is installing as I type, hopfully it will work! Only have 1.5GB ram, so thats why I edited that file. I plan on upgrading to 4GB, and getting the hard drive modular bay and putting an SSD in it as my boot hadd, and leaving the 250gig one in my primary HDD bay. I never use the CD drive, and I think it was a good choice apple taking it out the newer macbook pro's. Seb
  16. Hi, thanks for the help!!! I tried those boot flags. Also I am not booting from a USB drive, I made a separate partition on my HDD for the installer, which worked fine for the lion install. I tried replacing that kext aswell, with no effect. I ran MyFix on the installer and that allowed me to bot into in! Now to install and hope it works... Very enthusiastic to get Mountain Lion working! Seems to be a bit more problematic than Lion, as on my Hackintosh PC, booting the installer immediately reboots the computer. Seb
  17. Hi, I got hold of the GM Mountain Lion. I have 10.7.4 working fine on the D630 (see mu guide). Upon booting into the 10.8 installer, it goes very slowly after ACPI System state, and stops at PCI Configuration Begin. Any ideas? I tried replacing appleACPIplatform.kext but with no luck. Thanks, Seb
  18. Hi, Glad you found the tutorial of some use! I am looking forward to writing one for mountain lion when it comes out. Yes I don't know why wifi disappears on 10.7.4 everything works great on 10.7.0, but I believe apple made some changes to that next on the 10.7.3 update. Seb
  19. Hi, thanks for the tips! i will look forward to trying it once i get back from holiday and will post up the results. Seb
  20. don't bother with snow leopard, just install lion and follow the guide i have written for the d630, it runs well.
  21. Hi, I updated it to version A17 (latest) and have yet to try flashing a custom logo/bios onto the laptop (a bit scared of messing around with the bios) Thanks, Seb
  22. Hi, Yes I install stat on all my systems anyway, never knew it came with EDP. It reports the HD temp correct but CPU is always around 20C to 30C with I don't think is true. Thanks, Seb
  23. Hi, Thanks for the link, I did look around the forums a bit but didn't find any posts on it. My D630 runs surprisingly cool, but it would be nice to give that fan control a test. Seb
  24. Hi, Now that I have lion running on my D630, I was wondering if there was any way to control the fan speeds and get accurate temp readings from the CPU and GPU? I saw coolbook, but thaught it was only for changing voltages of the CPU - am I wrong? Thanks, Seb
