  1. Hello all,

I'd like to apologize for not being able to help many of you as much as I'd like these past few months. I've been extremely busy with life :-P .

Thank you for those of you that have posted about the 10.10.3 update and PlutoDelic for working through a Clover install. I hope to try it out soon, as my E6410 is currently "out of order" (my dual boot got messed up and I haven't had a chance to fix it :-P ).

Keep up the good work guys!

  2. Looking for some help, I am in the same boat as anaxagoras, I am trying to make a working installer from a 10.10.2 appstore update download.  My hardware is almost identical to patel4pres, except no bluetooth and no web cam. I get a kernel panic while the alps touchpad kext is loading, although it sometimes looks like it loads correctly as the kernel panic happens.  I can't get clover stick to boot at all, says unable to boot device.  I have a theory tho, I am currently running Mavericks using patel4pres other instructions, but I made that boot disk from a VM on my xps 15.  I am trying to make the new boot disk on the e6410.  Anybody out there successfully use their e6410 to make a boot disk?  Maybe there is an issue with the usb kext making for incomplete copies of some critical files or something.  Just a thought.

    Edit #1

Downloading 10.10 on my mavericks vm, going to try setting up a boot stick from that and see what happens

    Edit # 2

No dice, hangs at same point with installer setup under vm, not sure if it is the touchpad kext that is causing the actual problem but it halts at the same point every time.

    Edit # 3

I am on bios version A16, anaxagoras, what version are you on?  patel4prez? Just checked anaxagoras was on A12 and updated to A16...

I'm on A16 and have created multiple usb installers just fine on my 6410...

  3. here's a thought, i'm trying to install 10.10.2 it's the version the app store downloaded. Could that be the cause of my problem? Dumb question but if so how do i download an older version?

Also when i downloaded the E6410Y file the copy of diskmaker 4b4 is bad. I get an error that says it is damaged and cannot be opened and to move it to the trash. i downloaded diskmaker 4b4 from the main site page, but it makes me wonder if diskmaker is corrupt could anything else be corrupt in the download pack. I tried downloading the E6410Y pack 3 times and each time diskmaker was corrupt.

It's possible that the zip could be a bad upload. I'll try and reupload it today.

Also, the guide works with 10.10.2 with the nVidia graphics. Tried it myself on a clean build.

  4. No, that card is whitelisted and will need to use SMBios of MBA 5.1 or 5.2 and install ToledaART.kext to make it work. Info here.

    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC1.A0.H0.Xdw1510.TRS0&_nkw=dw1510&ghostText=&_sacat=0 would work OOB.

Yes, my mistake. I thought it was a DW1510, but it is in fact a 1520. Sorry about that!

The 1510 BCM4322 is the one that should work with this install.

  5. I'm a noob, so please bear with me if this question is dumb...

...but my machine came with a non-compatible wifi card in it (the Centrino one).

Can I just buy this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-DW1520-BCM4322-Wireless-AGN-Half-MINI-PCI-E-Broadcom-BCM943224HMS-WIFI-Card-/250914640818?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6bad93b2) and plop it in to make it work?

Or do wifi cards not work that way?

If you managed to install OS X using the guide, then yes, once it's installed, it should work without a problem :)

  6. Hi

Glad to see this forum is still alive. I have a daughter's whose school has asked they use Apple technology. I was looking at a MacBook AIR until I saw this thread. Would you recommend a second hand cheap 6410 as a MacBook AIR alternative. I realise the 6410 is 0.5Kg heavier and will be configured with Mountain Lion (and not Yosemite). Advantages are that it will be cheaper, more flexible (disk and memory), has an integrated DVD drive, could be configured as a dual boot, and is not such a great target for theft. Would you recommend a hacked 6410 as an alternative to the MacBook for use at a high school. And if I bought a second hand 6410, installed a Broadcom wifi, and replaced the disk with a SSD then using your guide should I be good to go? Note I am windows aware and have had minimal exposure to apple. Also, while I have access to an Apple, can you please confirm your first command "/Applications/Install OS X Mountain Lion ..." will not modify that system but just make the install available.

I use it as my daily driver/main machine, so I can definitely vouch for its reliability. Just make sure not to update it without checking the forum first!

Also, Mountain Lion isn't your only option; Yosemite works too :)

  7. The touchpad driver that is currently part of the installation process is the best one I have found thus far. If you find a better one, please share!

Also, the forced graphics for 1440x900 should be changeable via the org.boot.chameleon.plist

Lastly, the stock, Intel wireless card in the machine doesn't have the kext available. Unfortunately, such is the case with many Intel cards. If you want wifi, you will have to replace it with the Dell Wireless 1510. Once installed, all the necessary kexts should also be installed and you can use wifi without a problem.

  8. @patel4prez  thank so much for the guide and your time!

I am newbis in hackintosh. For me, I had issue of boot on the HD. But after some reinstall and Partition and erase  Install work like the guide said!

But was playing with "kext" around and lost mouse capability?? I might accidentaly removed or replaced kext... I did lost keyboard also?? but lucky keyboard is back and still dont know what I did lol.  Now i have to plug in a external USB for the mouse.

If not too musch asking. Is it possible for you to put a FIX for keyboard and mouse in a ZIP like you did for the AUDIO??

That you can stick at ---> https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7376-dell-latitude-e6410-yosemite-nvidiaintel/

-->(Indtead of to reinstall from scrach + boot issue?? + Office, iLife, adobe... + update for sys and software etc...)

Thank you so much for the AUDIO fix. It work great!!

Edit: Solved the issue. I used kext Wizard from JANEK202 : http://wizards.osxla...t/download.html

    - Reload  VoodooPS2Controller.kext from "E6410 Y" located /Extra/Extensions and voila!! (If you want more info: http://wizards.osxla...t/download.html).

Apparently only the "VoodooPS2Trackpad.kext" !!!Ver1.8.8!!! inside VoodooPS2Controller.kext work with our E6410 (At least in my MaConfig).

!!! AVOID to play with KEXT if you don't know what you are doing. Unless it is a test install.!!!

But Will be great to Add the Mouse and Keyboard. And also the SDCARD fix to --> https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/7376-dell-latitude-e6410-yosemite-nvidiaintel/

    Thank again!

Try booting with -f and if that doesn't work, list the kexts you have in /Extra/Extensions.

  9. Hey Pluto,

Great job! That seems like an awesome breakthrough.

What kexts were ADDED to /S/L/E? They may be named something different. I'd try filtering by Date Added/Created

Basically, by finding out, you may be able to determine which kext is delivering the version number of 10.1.43.

Also, in case you want to try and revert back to your previous state to see the difference, I give you the unmodified NVDAStartup.kext from my system:

    NVDAStartup.kext.zip

Hopefully just a rename of the old NVDAStartup + Other kexts that the install added and a permissions repair after you drop in the attached kext should put you back where you were prior to installing the newer driver.

Again, great job and I can't wait to see what this leads to :)

EDIT: Wanna do us all a favor and try sleep? If I remember correctly, it didn't work previously due to graphics power management! Would the new driver fix that? :0

  10. Anyone having WiFi disconnections after display is off? Whether a minute or 15, when my display sleeps and i log back in, WiFi is not connected. Anyone having the same issue? Im on 10.10.1

Try turning bluetooth off if you have it. An annoying fix, especially if you use bluetooth and it works :-P

  11. If you can still access the ML partition, you should be able to reinstall Chameleon with the myHack app. Hopefully that should set the OS X partition as Active/the boot partition.

If that doesn't work, try downloading MiniTool Partition Wizard (there's a free, home version) for Windows. After you install it, run it and set whichever one of the "Other" partitions is bigger as Active (right click on it, Set Active).

  12. Haha yes, I previously had Mavericks on the 6410. There guide I linked to above has the specifics on how to get it running. IMO, it's a bit more stable than ML and has more of the kinks worked out.

As far as the risk, hackintosh in and of itself is a risk, and if you got it running on your machine once, you can do it again. Just a matter of time and patience.

Lastly, you don't necessarily NEED to re-format your drive, unless it has a GUID Partition Table on it now, in which case, I would. This is because when installing Windows on a GPT drive, the installer sets it up to boot via UEFI, which OS X isn't (yet) 100% working with on our machines. By booting via UEFI, you can't boot to the Chameleon bootloader which is needed by OS X, turning your machine into a Windows only one until you reinstall over an MBR setup.

  13. Hey Riad Ziane,

I'm glad it worked for you!

    To answer your questions:

As for your dual boot, I've had better success formatting the drive as an MBR disk with 2 partitions under OS X first, then installing Windows to the first partition, and OS X to the second (with the MBR Patch) AFTER Windows. This is to avoid having to mess with the partitions and set the OS X one as active after installation.

  14. Yeah I'm honestly not too sure about that step anymore. It seems everytime I install it changes.

And as for your partitioning issues, make sure when you get to the Yosemite setup (first time/pre-install), you use Disk Utility to PARTITION the hard drive, not ERASE...once you choose partition, the whole drive will be wiped and usable under OSX.

Also, don't forget the AHCI setting in the BIOS. I know you had Mavericks on it before, so it should be set correctly, but it can't hurt to double check :).
