  1. Is the clover.zip listed on the guide the latest? That is the one I used. Might be I need to re-do the usb?
  2. I had posted this earlier, but wanted to capture a screen shot to assist in getting help. Following this guide. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6544-dell-inspiron-3x21-5x21-clover-install-guide/ Step 5 requires "verbose mode" to proceed on. Posted is the screen shot of what I see quickly before it reboots if I do NOT go into verbose mode. (attachment) Step 7 i I only have "boot os x install from install os x maverick" or "boot recovery from recovery hd" Selecting the 1st causes reboot. Verbose mode and I am back at at the installer, and I question the install screen. This was a clean hdd that had been gparted to ntfs (attachment 2) Paul
  3. From another Noob.... Good place to start. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/forum/132-dell/
  4. Mike, Thanks. Not sure if I should post here are start a new thread. Let me know if I need to start new. I created the usb install with Myhack 3.3.1 formatted the usb, installed per myhack instructions. I have gotten to the part of "beer" (see stout in foreground) and the Apple install screen. I am stuck at such with a stop symbol. I am going to try Myhack again on a different USB There was an attempted osx install still lingering on this HDD. Do I need to gparted this before I start over?
  5. Mike, Thanks! I am very comfortable inside the hardware part of the computers, the deep software is my sticking points! I just sort of thought that certain memory brands work without issue on Hacks and others do not. I will stay with Kingston I am soon in the next couple of days to start the install on the Dell. Is there issues with upgrading AFTER you get osx up and running? If I am ok with what I see on the Dell and its worth the upgrade I will go to 16gb likely. I will do some occasional photography work on this laptop Sorry a real noob to the hackintosh world! I do have a desktop running Maverick but I want to redo. I used a 3rd party install and didnt learn too much. The Dell, and this guide, is my learn tool then go back and re-do my desktop. Thanks for the help! Paul
  6. Very soon to be converting my Dell 3721, awaiting the new wireless card the AR5B195 I'd like to bump up the RAM to 8gb, any suggestions on brand that works well with OSX and this Laptop? Not sure if this has (2)2gb sticks from the factory or (1)4gb stick Thanks Paul
