I'm just waiting for an SSD to arrive, and then I will install MacOS on my own G3 3579 (same CPU and GPU as yours). It will be my third hackintosh, but I am by no means an expert. As long as I'm here, I might as well ask if you decided to go with Catalina because you determined that it was impossible to get the dGPU running on High Sierra.
