Administrators Hervé Posted October 15, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 15, 2013 Could you provide the lspci details so that I add that USB module to the list? Thanks. Realtek Ven id 0x7392 with Dev id 0x7811?
thesunking1638
I apologize, I'm not very familiar with wifi terminology- what do you mean by "lspci details" ?
Administrators Hervé Posted October 15, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 15, 2013 It's not wifi terminology, it's the hardware PCI details. Open up Terminal and type: lspci -nn
thesunking1638
I must have done something wrong- it puts out "Cannot find any working access method." I'm not sure what this means- but it is definitely working because I'm posting from it right now.
Administrators Hervé Posted October 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2013 Do you have a lspcidrv kext in /E/E? Probably not... You can try in System Report -> USB. You should see your dongle there and when you select it, the PCI ids should be available underneath.
thesunking1638
I apologize again for my extreme noob factor, but where would I look to find this kext?
Administrators Hervé Posted October 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2013 Copy to /Extra/Extensions (i.e. /E/E), then run myHack->myFix (full). You should then be able to type the lspci -nn command in Terminal. lspcidrv.kext.zip
thesunking1638
Ok, so I copied the kext and ran myfix and it was on the kextcache part, and I left to do something. I came back and nothing will respond- my cursor is now the spinning beach ball of death. Is it safe to just leave it there overnight or should I take the battery out? I'm not so sure about taking the battery out because it looked like myhack was re installing important stuff.
Administrators Hervé Posted October 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2013 Just force the laptop off and reboot. No need to take the battery out, just keep pressing the on/off button until your D820 powers off.
