LightWarrior
Hey everybody, I just acquired my dad's old Sony Vaio VPCCW17FX, he purchased it new in 2009. I'm about to install myhack 3.3.1 made with 10.9.1 Mavericks from the app store....but before I make the plunge and install OSX I am looking to get some feedback on this systems specs. I see that the Atheros 9285 wireless adapter is in there... that should work from what I've read. but I think most of this hardware will work but I'm still newberific so if you see any discrepancies please let me know. What I'm really trying to do is get an idea of what work exactly will be involved and any issues I may run into once installed. I can run a summary report if that helps, but it was a pretty long text file so for now see the screenshot Your thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated. Thanks! ~Matt
LightWarrior
I went ahead and tried to install myhack and the screen just goes black before it can even load to the first screen of the install... I just get a grey screen with the apple logo then poof, black screen and I have to restart it and try again... So the BIOS options are super limited on this Vaio, there is no way to ensure the following are in proper order. Ensure you have your SATA controllers in AHCI mode. Ensure you have enabled your CPU’s C states. Ensure you have HPET set to 64bit. Disable any devices you do not intend to use (extra SATA, Firewire, etc). If you have a UEFI system, ensure that you boot in legacy (bios boot) mode. Thats taken straight from this Myhack guide http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/ So my question is are there custom bios for such models to make this happen? can I hack this bios to make it work? if so where do i start? Administrators Hervé Posted June 30, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 30, 2014 nVidia GeForce 210 normally works OOB; just make sure to boot with Chameleon option: GraphicsEnabler=Yes.
