iMeek
Hello I have a working 10.8.5 system on e6410 nvidia. If I'll try to install the recently DLed 10.9.5 - will it destroy my happiness? Thanks btw, the 10.8.5 install was quick and painless, thanks to this forum.
Administrators Hervé Posted September 24, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 24, 2014 Why don't you create a small additional partition for Mav on your existing disk to try it out? Saves you the hassle of reinstalling ML if things don't keep you happy... The only possible issue I've heard about after upgrade to 10.9.5 was loss of audio on some models. Can't remember if the E6410 was affected.

iMeek
Install to a new partition went smoothly. I didn't even open the Bios. Everything works, besides the Wi-Fi. I still wonder though if installing over ML might ruin my installed software. I've got plenty of heavy stuff there. Hours of notorious setups. Anyway, it was nice practice. I'm about to put together a stationary Hackintosh.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted September 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 24, 2014 Clone it and install on top. I have Mavericks on top of ML, all data intact and apps. Only some apps are not working, upgrading to newer version of the app fixed it though.

iMeek
Fantastic. A couple of apps dropped registrations, but the rest is fine. No more conflict between Steermouse and Logitech utility Thanks for guiding!
Wuerge
I installed 10.9.4 then upgraded to 10.9.5. Everything works except sleep. BTW, I changed the Wifi board to Atheros AR5B91, it is recognized right away.
iMeek
I wonder, is it going to work if I clone the system to a stationary?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted October 3, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 3, 2014 You'll have to replace/add some of the kexts, change smbios, change Chameleon boot flag, DSDT/SSDT need to be changed/add to match the new hardware.
