TMNTony
I need a little help with my e6520 install. I've been trying the myhack method with a couple of different boot packages and nothing seems to work for me. If I run with the -v boot flag, it will run for a while and then the screen will just go blank, so I can't really tell what part in the boot process might be tripping in up. My e6520 has the i5 m2520 processor with HD3000 graphics. My max screen resolution is 1920x1080. Thanks
Moderators Jake Lo Posted October 27, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 27, 2014 Which version of OS X are you trying to install?
TMNTony
Sorry I totally forgot that key bit of information. I've tried both Mavericks with the myhack method and Yosemite with some of the other guides floating around and no dice on either one
Moderators Jake Lo Posted October 28, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 28, 2014 Follow this guide and boot pack for Mavericks. You just need to replace the SSDT.
El Capitán
Has anyone been able to get Yosemite installed and working on a E6520? I'm running into a weird issue with the install. On the second reboot the system just hangs half way through the apple logo screen. I followed Fabio78's E6x20 guide to prepare the USB. I changed the BIOS boot mode from legacy to UEFI but that didn't help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TMNTony
I got Mavericks up and running great but ran into problems installing Yosemite as well. I followed Jake Lo's guide, but it would hang up during booting at applekextexludelist.kext every time. any thoughts?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted December 16, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2014 @TMNTony, you need to remove FileNVRAM.dylib from modules. It won't work on Yosemite.
TMNTony
Thanks for the help. Removing FileNVRAM.dylib got me a bit farther in the booting process, but now I get a kernal panic for AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement Thanks
Moderators Jake Lo Posted December 16, 2014 Moderators Share Posted December 16, 2014 add NullCPUPowerManagement.kext to /Extra/Extensions and try again. Why don't you just click Yosemite Guide from my signature below. Bootpack on post #2. Use DSDT for E6520 HD 3000 only = 2CH
TMNTony
Thank you so much for your help and patience. I got through the installation process, but when I try to boot for the first time after the install I get can't find /System/LibraryKernels/Kernel. I placed the Kernels folder in my install disk like it says in the guide
