zararhayee
Hello forum I have a dell latitude d820 that I have been trying to install os x snow leopard on but whenever I boot for the USB that I created with myhack using this guide (https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6334-solved-my-hack-with-snow-leopard-caught-in-a-catch-22/) I see the apple logo with the spinning circle underneath for a min or two but then the screen just goes black as if it shut off but it doesn't because I can still hear the fan and the power light is still on. I have tried a number of boot flags but none of them helped. Can someone please helpe!? Thanks in advance! Ps. I am completely new a hanksintoshes so I would appreciate it if you guys explained the solution in the most simple terms possible
Administrators Bronxteck Posted March 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 18, 2015 have you tried closing the lid and opening it when that happens
zararhayee
Yes I tried that and it didn't work but then after an hour or two I went to shut it down and when I pressed the power button the install screen came up and I was able to succefully install snow leopard but then when I restarted it and it looked like it was booting up sucessfully but then the same thing happened! Any suggestions?

Administrators Bronxteck Posted March 18, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 18, 2015 maybe try using one of the d620 boot packs we have here there might be some d820 ones on the forum as well.
zararhayee
So I used the d620 boot pack and I was able to boot into the snow leopard I previously managed to install but I wasn't able to get a new installation done because It would get some kind of error. And I also still can't boot straight from the hard drive, I installed the new extras on the USB by the way. Any more help would be appreciated and I appreciate the help you've given me so far very much
Administrators Hervé Posted March 19, 2015 Administrators Share Posted March 19, 2015 What was the error you got? The pack from the D620 will probably work as long as you have same screen res; otherwise, you may experience corrupted screen. Make sure you install Chameleon once you've booted OS X. At worst, boot your HDD via the USB installer bootloader, then install Chameleon. Grab a recent version like v2.2 r2377 or r2401, they work Ok on those systems with all existing OS X versions. They're all available at InsanelyMac.
zararhayee
Do you know how to change the screen resolution in the boot pack
zararhayee
That error wasn't a problem, it probably wasn't even an error because I just restarted it and it booted fine from the USB. I will try installing chameleon
