spotter
so I tried to set up icloud, it says account limit reached for this hardware. This is because we all (at least per model) have the same serial # in our smbios.plist. Any reason this can't be randomly generated (at least once?) Administrators Leon Posted November 20, 2011 Administrators Share Posted November 20, 2011 Change your serial in /Extra/smbios.plist SMserial 53HX14J
spotter
Change your serial in /Extra/smbios.plist <key>SMserial</key> <string>53HX14J</string> I know you can change it, the point I was making was that on initial installation of EDP, a random one should be generated and stored and then further creations of smbios.plist would use that value. Administrators Leon Posted November 20, 2011 Administrators Share Posted November 20, 2011 I agree to that but we havent done it, because alot of settings is bound to the serial, meaning every time we change the serial, we would mess up settings, hence why it would be better if people themself change the serial to something they can remember. Offcourse, in future versions, we could consider to make a "settings.xml" file that could be migrated and backed up.. but thats for the future
Administrators Syonagar Posted January 25, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 25, 2012 Hey guys... I just configured iCloud for my account. I found an application Champlist.app from http://tools.inmac.org/ which generated a serial that I used. I'm not sure if it matters for the serial to be in the right 'format' but I though maybe it does since there is an app for generating it. Cheers!
