Nonta72
Hi, I'm planning on buying a Latitude E6430 laptop but first I'd like (if possible) to know if I will be able to use either a Dell DW1502 or a DW1702 in it. The apparently compatible one -- the DW1510 -- is hard to find here (in Morocco). Plus I already have plenty of AR5B95 and AR5B195 spare cards here in my bin. I will rebrand them if needed. Thanks in advance.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted June 17, 2017 Moderators Share Posted June 17, 2017 According to here, it works out of the box.
Administrators Hervé Posted June 17, 2017 Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2017 All cards based on Atheros AR9285 chip will work once you inject the compatible statement in DSDT or once you patch the Atheros40 kext and inject the necessary PCI id. Nonta72
Thank you for your replies!I know that the card works under OS X. I'm in fact using an AR5B195 card right now.My question is about the Laptop itself. Is there any whitelist on this laptop?I went to Dell's website and E6430 support section did not seem to have any Atheros drivers, just Broadcom (the Broadcom chip the drivers are intended for isn't compatible with OS X). So, I'm afraid the card will be rejected by the bios.
Administrators Hervé Posted June 17, 2017 Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2017 Dell no not whitelist their laptops; that's specific to HP and Lenovo. So you can insert any card you want in your E6430.
