  1. well just created a USB refi clover partition using latest clover and managed to get a dump from my CPU lots of files.. guess i need to edit the DSDT and which SSDT?? there are several..
  2. all files are17 oct 2015.. Think i need to build the USB from scratch. i can use the e6420 running El Cap to build the USB... Any guides for building an El Cap install? tried following pokenguyen's yosemite guide but el cap has a different disk utility and does not allow me to create two different partitions on the USB.. Also clover does not extract DSDT etc when pressing F4
  3. yup ssdt.aml is not included. all i did with the roberto studios files is copy the kexts to efi/clover/kexts/other copied the config.plist to efi\clover. copied the dsdt.aml to efi\clover\acpi\patched. i got an installer working for a e6420 that boots and ran the installer without hiccups. but same USB does not work on e7440. (i have created a new USB as i did not want to mess up the Installer USB i use for e6420) but still get same panic error.. has to be something to do with the cpu i think...
  4. selected the haswell kernel patch option from the binaries patching menu in clover an nada still same Panic and no verbose info its a core [email protected] 4 gig ram and 250 gig SSD..
  5. yup using clover 3292 in legacy.. interesting tho.. laptop reports invalid boot sector then goes to efi boot and boots into clover.. but still same KP message .. maybe i am not setting up clover properly. Just going the basic at the moment..
  6. Trying to install retail El Cap to an E7440 as clean install.. can not get it to boot into the installer on USB.. nothing comes up in verbose mode.. and laptop just re-boots.. any guides on installing EL cap to one of these laptops? UPDATE:.. figured it out... had to disable USB3 IN BIOS although it gets to th apple logo now it still resets no verbose info is presented.. even nothing in safe mode.. all i get is a short series of +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ across top of screen. then it displays a 1 line message and resets.. message is only displayed for 10th of a sec.. blink and you miss it.. its a kernel panic.. managed to get a screen shot. any ideas
  7. Wow just stumbled across this forum.. wish i found it earlier may have saved me a lot of work. I have managed to get OSX 10.8.3 Retail up and running natively on my e6420 Using Tony's unifail Method. Installation went of without a hitch no special bootflags used, and installation completed successfully and restarted the system as it was meant to. Had to boot of the USB drive to get everything working initially but once i got the SMBIOS and the chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) 2.0.1 installed i can boot from HDD without a problem. I have not used a DSDT file at all but installed the MB Pro 8.2 SMBIOS. Using chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded) 2.0.1 Bootloader with tony's Theme. Tony's multifail did not work at all as it always failed the install process however it did move the kext files into the right directory so only was a matter of repairing permissions using a Kext utility and then refreshing the cache with CHAMPLIST and then using the -f boot flag once after installing a new kext. So far i have graphics, Audio, ethernet, bluetooth, trackpad (as a mouse) and keyboard all working. Now working on getting the Battery recognition, and sleep working right.. the Lat has the Intel Centino wifi card so no way is that gonna work.. since it is actually a work laptop and i do not own it i am not going to bother replacing the wifi card. so will do without. Would like to get the Multi Touch trackpad working with gestures but not important as it is working as a mouse and thus sufficient for my needs. DVD drive is recognised and working as well Here is some specs from the system report.
