Is there a way I could collect some debug information that might help someone work out why it's stopped booting since the failed 10.14.4 upgrade? My known OK USB boot isn't working now either. I get the same situation of a 60% progress bar when it appears just sitting there for 5mins and then a blank screen.

Strange things I've noticed now, trying different things - Attempting to boot in safe mode gives me a circle with a line through it. When the progress bar appears it's always around the 60% point. It moves maybe three small moves and then stops. The drive stops accessing for a bit and then something times out and the screen goes blank. The second screen, however, turns on (blank) and the drive starts making accessing noises again. There's no mouse, nothing, but the screens are awake.

Won't boot off the USB installer either. It's getting to the same place on the progress bar. HDD is making computer accessing HDD noises, not broken HDD heads crashing against platter noises.

Just tried to apply the 10.14.4 upgrade and now the system is broken. Tried to boot verbose with nVidia forced, but it switches from the verbose to the Apple logo and progress bar stuck at about 60% and the drive is making a lot of noise. After about 30mins, the screen goes blank and although both monitors are active (not being put to sleep), and the HDD is making noise, there's no desktop. Pressing keys makes a bonk bonk bonk like noise. I've tried safe mode (refuses to boot), I've removed every peripheral other than the mouse and keyboard. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any suggestions?

Here it is again. I've double checked this zip file and there's three text files in there. Don't know what happened with the other one, my apologies. Ok, so when you say try AppleALC.kext with layout-id=5, it means nothing to me. I don't understand what that means I am meant to do... CodecDump.zip

Hi Jake, Thanks for that and for being so patient with me. I'll skip the wifi altogether. It's not that important on a desktop. The audio is, however, very important, so I've followed the instructions to gather useful information and posted it on that link you sent. I'll write back with my progress so that it's also mirrored on this post in case someone else is going through the same as I am with a Dell Vostro 270s. Regards, MJJ

Thanks for the replies. I've got Mojave working with help from an old nVidia Quadro K600 card I found and took the full height bracket off. Seems quite zippy truth be told. Most things seem to be working, including both the DisplayPort and the DVI connector (2560 x 1440 on the main DisplayPort display too!) however, I can't seem to get the audio to work, nor the internal Wifi or Bluetooth, although I'm not sure it has Bluetooth to be honest. USB 3 works, I'm pretty sure I’m getting GPU acceleration. Ethernet is working. EFI Folder attached. I tried to fumble around with the ALC fix thing but I've got no idea what I'm doing with that and can't make heads or tails of any of the "guides" I've found online. They could just as well be writing in Chinese, I've got no idea what they're talking about or how it's supposed to be used to make it work. Again, the Linux HW probe reports that the Dell Vostro 207s' motherboard's onboard audio is called - Intel Corporation7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller. Hi all, I have a Dell Vostro 270s desktop. BIOS A12 03/20/2018 7 Series/C210 Series Intel Chipset Onboard Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Onboard Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter Intel B75 Express Chipset LPC Controller I’m using a WD 1TB SATA HDD There is a USB 3.0 controller in there with a USB 2.0 one as well that I’m using for the USB Stick. I'm using a 8GB USB stick that I've successfully used many times to install on various Hackintoshes I've built so I know it's ok. I've also tried every USB port on the computer. (This required legacy boot.) Tried verbose but it didn't give me any clue as to why it stopped. Something about the hardware sensor and then it just stopped progressing. I'm really sorry, but I don't know where to go from here with this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The unit has no PCI cards, just trying to use the internal Intel graphics on the motherboard. (Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller) I've attached my EFI partition contents zipped. My Config.plist file has a unique SN that I've checked. For this configurations which gives me the flashing underscore, I used the guide for the Vostro 200 desktop above, copying (replacing) the KEXT/Other folder and the ACPI folders as per the instructions. ( I'm not sure if I was meant to merge or replace so I replaced thinking that the poster would have simply copied them rather than going to the trouble of pulling out individual files for a merge to work.) Hi again all. Decided to try and experiment with Sierra instead of Mojave. I really need those external nVidia attached ports to work on this thing. Any advice? I found this - https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/327824-dell-latitude-e6430-full-solution/ but Slice's zip file of a working EFI for both Intel and nVidia has been removed after he changed over to High Sierra and Intel HD only so I'm trying to find something that's going to allow me to run the majority of older Mac OS software versions on a stable platform with external displays using the E6530 laptop they've given me. How do I do that? Do I open the config.plist file in Clover Configuration tool and check a checkbox somewhere and save it then restart ?

Hi, Now having a strange problem where a perfectly working system somehow ends up trying to sleep, and then refuses to boot again, with the boot-up progress bar getting to about 80% and then stopping. I've forced power off and restarted in verbose mode and took a photo of the bit where it gets stuck. Any suggestions on how I can fix this without having to wipe it all and start again? Thanks, MJJ

Bugger. I suppose there's no way to trick Mojave into believing that it's a supported GPU?

Mr Herveé, I've been trying to find out as much as I can about this, and have successfully installed Mojave onto this computer. It's working perfectly, but there is no video output from the HDMI or DVI/DP ports on the docking station. I ran all the post-install instructions and all seems to be AOK. It's auto-booting into the OS from restart, it's turning off the display, BlueTooth is working, and I have a USB RealTek Wifi dongle that's also working fine. What I'd like to have confirmed is my suspicions that the posts referring to the modification of the AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext do not apply to this laptop with Mojave. Is this true or do I have a chance here to get that HDMI port being driven as a second display from the Intel HD4000 GPU, or does that HDMI port only work with the nVidia GPU? Thanks in advance. MJJ

I'm sorry I didn't find any posts that said that in my searches and wasn't quite sure how much of the stuff from the Sierra and High Sierra builds were applicable to Mojave, but I do know now. I'll see if I can swap this laptop for one with a Kepler based nVidia card instead. You've saved me hours of aimless hunting with that one post, so I really appreciate your help.

I should also perhaps mention that the HDMI port is pretty important to me. I need to run two displays if I can. I have the dock with the dual DVI ports and was thinking of using that to get my dual displays if possible, otherwise, I could get away with using the laptop screen and the HDMI port. I'm guessing that this means I have to try and get the nVidia thing working. I've read that it drains the battery and stops sleep. Neither of these things worry me in the slightest. This laptop is always going to be plugged in to AC power and I don't need it to sleep.

Hi there, Used Jake Lo's guide from here - https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/8506-dell-latitude-inspiron-precision-vostro-xps-clover-guide/?tab=comments#comment-87342 to create my bootloader, but can't seem to wade through the volumes of information out there to find my way to a bootloader, config.plist or list of kexts to get this thing to go. I stumbled across someone asking for a bootloader for a E6230 and Jake referred him to one that he did for someone else back in October 2018, and I tried that and got a lot further than ever before, but unfortunately after a few pages of console post logs on the screen, the screen goes black. I tried connecting a HDMI screen to the port but there was nothing there. Also tried connecting a display to the SVGA port and again, nothing. Although, pressing the keys at random caused the automatic accessibility assistant to start talking me through what was on the screen, so I'm thinking that it booted far enough to get to the OS X install page, but just couldn't drive my Intel or nVidia display cards or display. I tried changing the graphics injection setting from the Intel to the nVidia and get the same result, including the Accessibility Assistant talking to me, so I know it's getting as far as the OS X install window, but the screen is still black. After the screen had been blank for a while, I tried plugging in a HDMI cable connected to a 24" display and nothing. Then tried pushing a bunch of keys on the keyboard and the OSX Install text to speech started talking to me, so I think that means it progressed to the OSX install, but couldn't drive my screen for some reason. It's really close, but just not close enough!

I just tried using this guide and the Mojave bootpack Jake Lo linked to above and although the clover UI was perfect, and there were lots of lines of post, the screen goes blank. Mine, however is a Dell Latitude E6530 (http://linux-hardware.org/?probe=906439ca69 ) I'd be eternally grateful if someone could steer me in the right direction on how to get this thing working with Mojave. Not too fussed about any fancy stuff, just a working Hackintosh that I can run email, calendar, Messages, etc. I've done a few over the last 8 years, but I’m rusty and basically a noob to all this, so please be gentle! Don't need wifi, bluetooth, or high-end GPU functionality. Many thanks! MrJJIII
