  1. Great Guide. Have it up and running on my Latitude D630 in no time. After the installation did a Migration with the time machine drive of what this system was running before and have the system now on 1.8.2 with all the programs and settings that I had running at 10.7.5. Really great
  2. What would be your idea of doing the installation? Using MyHack or going a other way
  3. All, I have a Dell Latitude D610 running on 10.5.8. for some time now. I was wondering what would be the most recent Os version this system would be capable of running? Would it be capable of running 10.6 or even 10.7 Or is 10.5.8. the best version for this system. thanks,
  4. Great tutorial I had to remove voodoohda to make the installation start after that it worked like a charm. thanks,
  5. Thanks that was the problem now the installation is running. thanks again
  6. Did that and started with -v and with -v -f but I keep getting the same error (see attached picture) The strange thing is that the early installations all went well but now the system does not want to move. I have run a check in the bios and all is well. What could this be :$
  7. I made the MyHack USB stick added the Extra folder but still no result. The attached screen is where the system stalls in verbose mode. :$ Any idea
  8. Just to be sure on this. I use Myhack to make the USB installer. Then I manually replace the extra folder on the stick with the bootpack extra folder Do I have to do more or is that it and boot the D630 from the USB stick? I have been looking at this installation guide! https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/1515-d630-os-x-lion-install-guide/ Is that the right one? thanks
  9. All, I had the D630 working for a time with no problem And then at once the system would not boot any more. When I connected a external USB drive to it the system would boot with the external bootloader. Now I want to re-install 10.7 to my system but what I do the installation will not start. I have the latest MyHack 3.2.1. and used that one to make the USB boot installer. I did not add any Extra to it. The bootloader does start and when i hit the space bare I can start with -v. At the bottom line I read just after the screen is filled with line about Creating RAM Disk for various things it reads on the last 3 lines: using 64-bit bootcache playlist BootcacheControl: Unable tp open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2 No such file or directory Bug: Launchctl.c:2400 (24957):30 (dbfd = open)g_job_overrides_db_path. O_RDONLY ......... what can be wrong. I have done a perfect installation in the past with a previose version of Myhack and EDP 2.2. I did not use the EDP 3.x yet. thanks for your help.
  10. Dear Syonagar, Do I still use EDP 2.2. or do I download a newer version of EDP? I see you have in your signature EDP 3.1. IF so where do I down load this one? probably for sure required when going for the update to 10.7.4. thanks,
  11. To keep you up to date. I connected a external drive to the system as it was my idea to do a installation of Lion on a external drive. In the boot screen I selected the Osx Lion that is on the internal drive and the system simply booted. I'm now running the Permission on the drive. It is taking more time then it did in Terminal so probably terminal did not do the real job. To be continued
  12. Is there a way to check with terminal what os version you are running when the os will not start? thanks Done the check in Terminal cat SystemVersion.plist and it is still 10.7.3 :$
  13. Dear Syonagar, I have done the repair permissions by running the disk Util from a install DVD. like in the attached link http://osxdaily.com/tag/repair-permissions/ It seems not to matter. Any other ideas :$ Could my system be updated to 10.7.4. thanks,
  14. All, My Dell D630 simply stops booting. One moment it boots just fine and the next it keeps re-starting. -v -f and -s do not work :$ I have checked if the Applehda.kext is in the Extensions folder this is not the case. I did not update the system the last time it booted. The time between the ok boot end the wrong boot was less then 5 minutes. What can this be? How can I solve this problem. thanks for your help
  15. Had the same problem again but find a better way to solve it. Run a install disk of any OSX version you have and wait till you can select Terminal. In terminal check the drives available with "diskutil list" It will give you the list of drives available. Change to the drive where your OS is on normaly this would by on Disk0s1 named "Mac Drive" type in terminal cd /Volumes/"Mac Drive" type ls and you should see the root of your Mac drive. type cd System/Library/Extensions and now you should be in the Extensions folder where the Kext are. type ls to see if the Applehda.kext is available. you probably have to scroll. type rm -R Applehda.kext the Applehda.kext wil now be removed from your Extensions folder. Check this with the ls command. type Exit in terminal. stop the installation of the installation disk this is in the top Quite Installation. Restart your system. Now your system will boot again like before. Once it runs run the Kext Util app.
  16. Hi, I have the D630 working for some time now. My son uses it and is complaining of that the system will stop and re-boots it self. I have checked the CPU temp and this one will run up to 72 degree Celsius. The Laptop is on a dock so it has more room to breath or vent then when it would be at the desk. What are the normal temps of the CPU and would there be a way of bringing them down. I have done a normal EDP 2.2 installation and it works just perfect. thanks,
  17. Simply follow the instructions on the Wiki page. Download the EDP 2.2 and make the USB stick. It works like a charm had mine running in 30 minutes.
  18. Ok have it working again. What I did Connected a external USB drive. Installed 10.7 to this external drive. removed the file on the drive in de D630. run Kext Utility. (I'm not sure it did touch the kext folder on the internal drive) e-started the D630 2 or 3 times with -v en -v -f Then it started. Run the Kext Utility now for sure on the internal drive seems to work.
  19. Single user does not boot as well I can boot from the installation stick and then start terminal. Now is the question how to come to the right drive
  20. Thanks for your replay. Can you tell me how to do that as the systems does not start. I probably have to go in to single user mode and then remove it. After it has been removed how do I repair permissions? or can I do that after the system has been started again? thanks,
  21. I had the D630 up and running for some time. Now after a couple of weeks the system will not boot anny more. The system is running with EDP 2.2 version and worked like a charm. When I let it boot in the normal way it will stall in the Boot screen see pic 1 (dscn3442) with the Darwin information on the left upper site. When I select Verbose mode the sys information will run for the first 5 to 6 lines and then comes back in the boot screen. When I select the ignore caches mode I get at the end a panic call see pac 2 (dscn3443) When I do a boot with -v -f the installation stalls see pic 3. (dscn3441) Can one of you Latitude cracks help me with this. thanks,
  22. To give you a idea how I did the installation. Ussed the My hack did the installation of the Lion DVD to the USB (Harddisk) not stick for some reason the stick would stall. Then run the boot installer with no special kexts so only the bootloader. Installed this on the D630. After this all was installed boot the D630 by selecting the hard drive of the D630 with the USB as boot manager. Once the system was booted run the EDP 2.2 pack and installed it to the hard drive of the D630. Run the bootloader installer so the system could run from it's own HD. Also run the Terminal session as written in the installer instruction. Run a update of lion and then it all is at 10.7.2. and all working just fine.
  23. You could trey to boot with -v (verbose mode) I had a problem every time the first time I did a start the wheel would stall. After I start with -v the system would start and install. Also the first time after the installation I run -v. I hope this does help.
  24. I have the same problem. When I tell the system to go to sleep it works just fine but it will not go to sleep based on the energy settings. In the end I use pleaseSleep and then it does work just fine. I also have the problem with the WiFi and Lan I will do the same.
  25. I have done a new installation of my D630 system. I have used the EDP2.2 and it works like a charm The mouse pad does work and also the pointer between the key's. The system is now at 10.7.2 When I run a Geekbench I see that the processor is tested at 2.01 GHz instead of 2.2 GHz it can run on. The PstateMenu also gives in the list a maximum of 2013 MHz. The CPU in my system is the T7500 possible of doing 2.2GHZ. Is there something I have to set or select to make it run when required the full speed? In the SMbios I can not find a line that would limit the system speed. Do I have to set something in the BIOS of the Dell so it can run the maximum speed. thanks,
