  1. Nope, do something else..

    edit your com.apple.boot.plist, and add:

    Kernel Flags

    pmVersion=21

If you allready have a kernel flag, just add the pmversion=21 to the string

.. just a question.. do you have nvidia or intel ?

  2. Hi Leon. I'll give 1.5 a test on my 420 if you like but I still haven't got round to updating the BIOS, still A03, not sure if that will matter as everything has been fine so far. I'm away this weekend so won't be able to report back until Monday

    Hey,

D420 is allready tested, so for your part.. update your bios, and wait for the 1.5rc5 release before updating to 10.6.6 if you want to be on the safe side :)

    D420 and D430 are 99,9% alike...

  3. To do a work around the debug thing, do:

    Open a console, type:

sudo su (enter) (to change to admin mode)

    ln -sF /dev/null /var/log/kernel.log

(what it does is, that it re-creates kernel.log as a symbolic link to /dev/null) .. its not the perfect solution.. but it works.

.. There you go, Then it can write as much as it want without taking up cpu time and flooding ur log :)

  4. Hey Chris,

I actually have the same kind of laptop these days (reselling it, its the 16xx X 10xx) model.

As for your problem with powerman. - Yes, you are right, its a problem with speedstep.

Try and use coolbook to act as speedstep alternative ( http://www.osxlatitude.com/groups/d4xosx/wiki/1d8c1/Howto_Fix_heating_problems.html ) - it works on mine and solves the above problems.

As for cd/dvd, i'll have a chat with mariusz and have him add cd/dvd fix to rc5

  5. I've made some progress. I replaced the dsdt.aml that was in the 1.5rc4 /Extra/Models/D620-nvidia directory (that gets copied to /Extra) with the one that all of we d620 owners uploaded (they are all the same as far as I can see), and it boots now. I have sound and now the DVD drive works. (Very cool to have DVD working!)

However, closing the lid no longer puts it to sleep. Sleep from the menu bar works, and it wakes up fine (with the BIOS password, et al), but closing the lid used to put it to sleep and it doesn't anymore.

I noticed that the release notes for rc4 included:

13.12.2010 Leon Updated the dsdt.aml in Models/d6x0-nvidia to the one that is used with the cps

    (should that be "xps"?)

Why use that dsdt.aml and not the dsdt.aml that we d620 owners uploaded? Is the dsdt.aml in the /Extra directory normally different than the one we generated from the machine? (Pardon the question, I don't fully understand the DSDT stuff.)

Should we be using the newer versions of OSvKernDSPLib.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext that are in the /Extra/Extensions after unzip?

Thanks again for all the great work.

    Hi,

Let me try and sum this one up.

Right now we dont have any D620 testers, so thats why the whole D620 is a bit of a blind spot, also, in 1.5, we have seperated the models a bit more (as you properly have noticed)

As for the OSvkern.. and IONe.. those are being updated in RC5 as we speak.

Can you please attach the dsdt.aml that you are using and a bit of info about ur machine.. eg. D620-intel or D620-nvidia ?

    Could you please add
