  1. Hello Syonagar, it looks the D830s (nVidia or Intel) are no longer listed in the supported bootpacks. Can you please confirm (or post a link to the right bootpack)? THX! JD31
  2. Syonagar, which bootpack? The Generic one (that comes with myHack 3.1) or the D830 for nVidia? Also, doesn't myHack run myfix automatically once you add your own '/Extra' package? I'll try this over the weekend just to see if it will work or not (with the boot options that you've specified). Bronxtech, I did make sure it had the correct wireless card and it does (Broadcom 4311). I did take the Intel one out and added the correct card. I'll let you guy know how it goes! THX again (both) for your help on this one! JD31
  3. OK. Tried those options as boot flags and got hung at 'ApplePS2Trackpad: ALPS Glidepoint V8.99..nothing else
  4. Hello Bronxteck, is that in the boot flags....correct? Instead of just -v.....correct?
  5. Hello Everyone, it's been a few months since I've surfed these wonderful forums and now it's install time again! J ust wanted to reach out to all the experts and admins to get over a few install humps (well...can even get started) on a D830 with nVidia graphics. Looks like a few changes have surfaced on both this site and the myHack application. Here are a few questions: - I no longer see a boot pack for a D830 (Intel or nVidia).....am I supposed to use another one?...or the generic one that comes with myHack 3.0? I only see boot packs for D820s (unless I go to an old page which is no longer listed on your new site...but still on your old site: http://www.osxlatitude.com/supported-models/)...I'm lost here! - myHack 3 is much different from 2.0. It no longer asks for an /Extra (bootpack) to be supplied.....whatever boot pack I supply it, I'm not even able to boot (various kernel panics at boot time). I see it's an optional feature (and I've tried the D830 nVidia bootpack...but again nothing!!!) - assuming I get this started, do I still use EDP2.2? I'm lost! Where do I even start? EDIT: I'm trying it out with a D820 nvidia bootpack to see if that makes a difference or not. 2nd EDIT: Used D820 bootback and I'm stuck at [ PCI Configuration Begin ] THX again for your time.
  6. Hello Tim, I did confirm that my native resolution of my screen is 1280x800. Yeah, it would have been great to have the higher resolution....but nope! I did confirm so in my BIOS. What issue are you having? Are you sure you can support 1440x900? Just go to your BIOS to verify so (look at another thread of mine to see in which section of the BIOS to find it). My BIOS does say that my MAX resolution is 1280x800. Hopefully this helps. I did upgrade my BIOS to A18 but I could not get my Broadcom wireless card to work (BCM9412). So I went back to A16 (even though I could not figure out if that was the try case or not). -Danny -Danny
  7. Ok all.....UPDATE: - I've installed a different hard drive and installed Windows in order to downgrade the BIOS back to A16 (from A18)...that worked fine! - re-inserted the OSX hard drive and re-installed OSX Lion clean (10.7.2 and performed no updates) - downloaded the above IO80211Family.kext file (from http://www.osx86.net/view/173-bcm94312mcg.html) - changed its permissions to 0:0 and ownership to root/wheel - renamed the original /S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext to something else (ie. IO80211Family.kext_old) - copied in the new file (to /S/L/E) - reboot .......finally empty baseball field showed up in the upper toolbar and subsequently the new WIFI 'en1' interface in the network management menu - then copied the new /S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext to /S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext_good (since the 10.7.3 update will reset the this file to factory default) - after the cumulative update (to 10.7.3), deleted the/S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext file and renamed the/S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext_good to /S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext All is well! Took a few times to get this one (and about 8 hours worth of research/troubleshooting/banging my head against the wall). Hopefully this helps others. BTW, the WIFI light below the LCD screen (bottom right) does NOT light up even though the card is active and functioning properly...oh well! THX everyone for your help!
  8. Nothing.... Reseated card....messed with the BIOS settings....played with the side-switch....nothing! At this point I'm thinking that it did not like the BIOS update. Do you know if OSX supports A18?
  9. I'm going to do that right now! It has not been touched in a while....... BTW..do you know if Lion support this card out of the box?
  10. I've also downloaded the KEXT file: http://www.osx86.net/view/173-bcm94312mcg.html ...then rebooted....but still nothing!
  11. THX for your quick reply. In the past this was easy! I've deleted some kext files in /S/L/E and it all worked (after my last update from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3). Yes it did work before. Last night I was trying to get the display to work in 1440x900 mode (which hosed my whole entire system). So went ahead and started from scratch. Actually I first installed Windows, upgraded the BIOS to A18, then installed LION. It worked before. But now....no WIFI! I'm having a Brain freeze and don't remember which files that I've edited/deleted Now I'm stuck!!!!
  12. It's not in the list of interfaces. I only see Ethernet, Modem and FireWire. No WIFI card! Side note....I've upgraded the BIOS to A18 (from A16). You think that killed it?
  13. Hello Folks, need more help with new install (just installed LION)...... Have a D630 with Intel graphics. I've just replaced the Intel WIFI card with a Broadcom (BMC94312MCG) and I'm unable to find the right drivers (kext) files. I know there are files to be removed in /S/L/E and replaced with others..... Can someone help? Is there a tutorial on how to accomplish this? GOING CRAZEEEE HERE!!! TXH!
  14. Got it! THX Guys! Just looked up in the BIOS and the max is 1280x800. Oh well....maybe when I come across a better screen......
  15. Hello Everyone, just trying to get some help (newbie here). Have successfully installed Lion on D630 with Intel Graphics (BTW...this site is the best place for help!!). Few questions: - how do I know if my display can support 1440x900? It's currently in 1280x800. I'm not sure at this point (I guess maybe the D630 came with different physical screens) - if it does (support 1440x900), how do I accomplish this task (getting the higher resolution)? I've looked all over and I'm still unable to find step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this task (downloading the appropriate DSDT.aml file, editing the appropriate file(s)) As part of the second question......I'm unable to find any display setting in my chameleon.plist boot file (nothing that specifies 1280x800 resolution)....both in the /Extra folder and in the /Extra/Models/D630-intel folder. This is what my org.chameleon.Boot.plist looks like (in both places): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>SystemType</key> <string>2</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Default</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> <key>arch</key> <string>i386</string> <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> </plist> I was able to find and download the appropriate DSDT.aml file and placed it in both folders (/Extra and /Extra/Models/D630-intel) and ran the edptool.command script......still in same resolution. Please HELP!!! THX!
  16. Yes....curious to see this answer since 10.7.3 came down the pipe and wants to be installed!!!
  17. Can you share that item from Amazon? Don't know what batteries to trust.....to many overseas fakes! THX!
