Any ideas on this video blanking out? Sometimes I'm able to get it back by pressing enter or clicking the external mouse. Other times I have to hard shut down and reboot.
-
Do both your externals work through the dock on OSX as well? I've got a couple other issues as well, such as the video blanking out every so often (enter usually brings it back. I've checked energy settings, no go there) as well as my battery draining extremely fast. For example, I've been in OSX for 20 minutes and I'm down to 80% battery.

I have windows installed on a completely separate HDD, MBR I assume. When I disable optimus, my W8 install does not allow the laptop screen to be used with my other two external monitors through the dock. With it enabled, I can use two external monitors PLUS my laptop screen (total of 3).

Hello again All! I've successfully installed Mavericks onto a 6530 using Jake's guide (Excellent resource). My question is this: I had installed Windows 8 onto the main drive, and then Mavericks onto a secondary SATA drive. As long as I have optimus disabled, both OS's can boot fine separately (choosing the appropriate drive). The issue is when I try to use Chameleon to boot into windows, I get a windows boot error (boot manager). Is there any way to resolve this? My second issue is with optimus. I have to have it disabled in bios in order to boot OSX successfully. This causes an issue since I use the NVIDIA card in windows to power two external monitors through a dock. Am I doing something wrong? Can I have optimus enabled for windows and just bypass it for OSX? Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm also using the extra SSDT files for the updated CPU in jake's guide (3740 I believe).

Yes... works perfectly as far as I can tell. Removed the delay of the physical volume button and everything sounds great now.

Ended up reformatting with GUID instead of MBR.. not sure if that's what fixed it, but it works now... I also installed soundflower, which makes my audio a ton better...

I've gone through days worth of GB troubleshooting assuming that it was the app since my system sounds are ok. You know how you can drag a loop to a new track and it'll work? I can't do that either. It says I'm trying to add too many tracks, reduce the # of tracks and try again. I'll try your suggestions.

So, I had this fixed on my 6230 and it's working great. My issue now is on a 6530. I've followed JL's guide. My Mavericks install is great, everything is pretty much working fine (aside from sleep). My issue, is again with GarageBand (and LogicProX as well). I simply cannot create tracks. I also can't hear music from an imported IOS song. Could this be my CPU causing an issue? I've used the patch from the guide (I have an I7 3740QM). Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Magically it worked the second or third time I plugged the dock in... very strange.
-
Yes, and that worked... I must have a loose cable or something. I removed the bottom , worked some cables around and now it's good. Any idea how to get this to work on a dock so I have a larger monitor? I've got it hooked up, but can't get any video output. I hook HDMI direct into the laptop, and also don't get output, but the monitor doesn't go into sleep mode. I've tried to even mirror the display, then my laptop monitor gets rather small, like it's switching to 1920x1080, but still nothing on the monitor. Fn + F8 just garbles my entire screen... Thoughts?

I'll be attempting my wifi (1510) for my 6530 this evening. I'll post results if they will help at all. My install went butter smooth thanks to JL's guide. Just need to figure out a few things.

I've got things setup using the attached E/E folder. My problem is my sound. Sound works on normal things. Volume/Up down confirmations, videos, etc. When I load up garageband and playback an imported song from my iPad, the audio cuts in and out at best. Usually is just blank. Anyone have any ideas? 6230 w/ i5 chip. JL's extras folder Used myHack 3.3 method. Extra.zip

Welp... my DW1510 came in today and I now have working WiFi. It worked OOB without any further configuration. I've had sound, and it worked... then it stopped working... Or was super slow (to update up/down). I think I've broken everything again, as I've got no sound. Apple HDA simply does not work for me. I have the core i5

Shows up as Broadcom bcm43228 (14e4:4359) I've tried rebranding it but my Linux install failed at getting git.
-
OK, I can confirm the guide in the post above works on a 6230. I don't have a DVD drive or a higher resolution, so it was a matter of building my usb installer with the attached extras folder in that post. Once I rebooted after installation, everything just worked. I couldn't believe it. The only thing I'm working on now is rebranding my DW1540 (WiFi) to see if I can get it to work. All the hard work done by the entire crew, especially JL for making this essentially a one step process for me is extremely appreciated.

Added the kext back in from your post on the other thread, and I got no sound.
-
I have a 6230 i5, but I used the i7 EDP. I'm failing to remember what kext I used for the trackpad and keyboard... Some didn't work. unfortunately my notes are at home. If you just make sure you have a usb keyboard and mouse, you can experiment (that's what I had to do)
-
It does show up as 92HD93. I'll add the kext in again and retry. Perhaps it was my thinking it was a 6220 from before
-
I just ran through this yesterday. All works after EDP. The audio kext is #3 on the list when you're choosing.
-
No go on the AppleHDA link in your post. I still get nothing. No devices found. EDIT** Sound is back, by rerunning EDP and choosing Voodoo HDA#3. Will a Dell branded DW1540 WiFi card work OTB?
-
Fix one thing, break another. I'll replace the wifi adapter with what you suggested. Non-issue there. Now my sound doesn't work. I'm going to try your link with that kext to see if it fixes it.
-
Rebuilt, rebooted. Now my keyboard doesn't work... haha. This is fun, no? Works at the bootloader screen, just not once the OS is loaded. Good news is the other USB ports seem to work.

Unknown device [1217:8221] (rev 05) I'm rebuilding EDP right now based on the "correct" package Although, it does say i7 in EDP, when I only have an i5.. any issues forseen there?

I think i'm straight now. A few issues, one being WiFi remain. Not sure what card I have, need to check that. The second issue is my right USB3.0 ports. They are non-functional. They actually cause the OS to freeze if I plug something into them. I've tried searching and using EDP to install the kexts, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
-
Ok, sorry for the delay. I ended up reformatting and doing everything again. After the OSX installation, everything booted up. Which, of course, leads me to my next issue The system booted in normal mode. My next step was to install EDP. I did this. I took the defaults for a 6220 (model database) and ran EDP. myHack finished and I rebooted my machine. Booted back into normal mode and then the system froze. I'm going to boot into my USB installer again and run myfix, but do you all have any ideas? EDIT** Booting into the Installer and running myFix, InstallExtras seems to have resolved that problem.
