  1. Actually, I do. I borrowed my brothers from his Latitude D830. (He won't let me put OS X on it.) Same problem, no speedstep. I've narrowed it down to the bootloader. I did install the version of Chameleon that came with EDP 1.8 and I just thought of it. I'm going to try dropping rev. 667 back in there and see if that fixes it. Other than the bootloader, nothing has changed and I cannot imagine why its acting up.
  2. Problem is back. Temps are extremely high, at 88*C! (Confirmed by BIOS) Kext loads, and App loads just fine. Doesn't appear to work properly however. Menu shows the following CPU states: 1660Mhz, 1494Mhz, 1328Mhz, 1162Mhz, and 996Mhz. When selecting any option, nothing will stay selected. (It stays checkmarked until I close the menu. When I check again, nothing is checkmarked.) Menu icon shows no movement whatsoever. I don't know what to do, honestly.
  3. My thoughts exactly, although I had forced the rebuild to no avail. I'm thinking AppleJack (Great single-user command utility!) helped out by fixing some permissions that just wouldn't fix in OS X. Its either that, or "re-docking" CoolBook Controller fixed it. (I used Dock Dodger to remove the Dock icon and make Coolbook just a menu application. Works great after you setup your voltages/speed.) And yes Leon, I'm using the latest version of Coolbook.
  4. I see this screen directly before BIOS. As soon as you tap the power button, it beeps twice and displays this screen. Like I said, it only shows up about 1/20 boots. Coincidentally, I fire up my D520 from sleep, and it kernel panics. I know what caused it, and its no big deal. But I reboot the D520 and speedstep is now functioning properly. It hasn't worked for a week, and now it does. I did absolutely nothing to change it, so I dunno. I'll keep you posted.
  5. Like the topic title/description say, Speedstep has for some reason stopped working. It worked yesterday, indicated by Coolbook Controller, but today it is not. It used to fluctuate between 1002Mhz and 1667Mhz, and everywhere inbetween. Now, it seems as though when I start the D520, its running at 100%, or 1.6Ghz. Even if I start the machine on battery, it will run at 100%. Here's what I've noticed so far: Battery start: 1.6Ghz until I plug in the charger. Immediate drop to 1.0Ghz Power start: 1.6Ghz until I remove the charger. Immediate drop to 1.0Ghz. Absolutely nothing has changed. Coolbook will NOT run through the stepping procedures. It attempts, but looking at my CPU speed, its not really doing it. Although, it will throw the CPU Load up to 100%, which kills my laptop. Running EDP 1.8, and am NOT using Apple's version of Speedstep. I have backed up /Extra via EDP and tried using Apple's version of Speedstep. No good. Still won't work. Could this perhaps be a charger issue? Lately I've been getting screens that say "We were unable to determine your charger" when I power the machine up with the power adaptor plugged in. It doesn't happen all the time. Maybe 1/20 boots.
  6. Download EDP1.8 and install it. After it loads EDP and you can start making selections, build for your laptop. At PS/2 selections, pick option 4. It allows for two-finger scrolling on most Latitudes with ALPS touchpads, however the two-finger scrolling speed is a little fast. Haven't been able to slow it down any, but it is working on my D520.
  7. Haha! I had that problem on my D520 with Leopard. When "Wake from USB" was enabled in BIOS, Shutdown/Restart would not work in OS X. I think "TheGreatDeceiver" over at Insanelymac helped me figure that one out.
  8. I had this same issue when I was running 10.5.8. Wi-Fi stopped working, and I couldn't figure out why. I ended up figuring out that I had accidentally hit the Fn+F2 key combo, which disables the Wireless adaptor. I had done this while booted into OS X, and performing that key combo again would NOT re-enable the wireless adaptor. I ended up having to boot a Linux LiveCD and perform the key combo again while booted into Linux. (I used Ubuntu, if my memory serves me correctly.) That re-enabled the wireless adaptor, and re-booting into OS X showed that it worked again. Give it a try. It only takes a few minutes.
  9. Sweet. My version of SleepEnabler is from 1.7, and after a few EDP rebuilds, they seem to be playing together happily. Getting this working literally made my month. Which by the way, for all you happy marijuana smokers... Happy 4/20!
  10. I grabbed it, and will definitely test it out if the issue comes back, but for now SleepEnabler and ApplePS2 are playing nicely. Bronx, we should fine tune this kext so that it plays nicely with EDP. This should be in the EDP tool.
  11. I do indeed have a BIOS password set. Sleep worked great until I removed SleepEnabler. My BIOS does not have that option. I have to put the password in even when "waking" from sleep. I cannot even make hibernation work without SleepEnabler. It really does not bother me though. I might try dropping SleepEnabler back in now that everything is working properly. See if EDP cannot rebuild with SleepEnabler and have it work. I will keep you posted. It works. SleepEnabler and PS2 are playing nicely. I'm amazed at what EDP will do. Good work Bronx, and thanks for my lovely two-finger scroll. Kudos.
  12. I was not booting with "-x" or "-s" or with the 64-bit kernel when I took the kernel.log file and gave it to you. Same for the kextstat. I am booting in safe mode now, because when I boot normal, trackpad becomes unusable. Mouse will not go below the middle of the screen and continues to only go up in a right-to-left movement. Simply touching the trackpad is like right-clicking a million times a second while it moves. Eventually the mouse will go up to the Apple menu icon, and just click over and over and over. Keyboard still works when this happens. In a safe boot, kext seems to load just fine, as two-finger scroll works, as does tap-click. Seems as though something is affecting it. I'm going to try pulling out SleepEnabler and see what happens. I'll rebuild with EDP and see if sound/battery come back. If not, I'll rebuild with Slice and try a swap. We'll go from there. If it doesn't work, we can continue working on this Bronx. This kext is superb when it works. Edit:Bronxteck, MAJOR THANKS! Pulling SleepEnabler allowed my trackpad to work properly, and a rebuild with EDP gave me sound/battery back. You, good sir, are absolutely amazing. I can't stress my thanks enough. You rock! Sleep does not work, but I can live with that. Thanks again, Bronx!
  13. Here is the results of a kextstat, in txt format. Also, here's the kernel.log file. Kextstat.rtf kernel.log.zip
  14. Just yanked out Nub and rebuilt cache's. Next reboot, no trackpad/keyboard at all. USB was also disabled. Rebooted with a safe boot, verbose, in single and moved Nub back into /E/E, used AppleJack to rebuild cache and repair permissions. Keyboard/trackpad came back. Still no sound. Would the fact that the original was labeled "appleps2controller.kext", whereas yours is labeled "ApplePS2Controller.kext"? Meh. I'll rename it. Can't hurt to try. (It did not help) Battery icon is gone, also.
  15. Can do. Worst that will happen is I have to boot into single and replace it. Nothing major.
  16. Here's what I have in /Extra/Extensions: AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext AppleBCM440XEthernet.kext AppleHDADisabler.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext (Bronx's) FakeSMC.kext IOAudioFamily.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OSvKernDSPLib.kext SleepEnabler.kext VoodooHDA.kext VoodooTSCSync.kext As far as I know, I have everything required. Perhaps the PS2Nub is the issue? Want my kernel.log file?
  17. Just noticed that your PS2 kext has broken sound on my STAC9200. Totally seems to disable VoodooHDA. Anything you need Bronx to get this figured out, let me know. Running latest upgraded version of SL and EDP 1.7.
  18. Will test and let you know tomorrow. It is late and I have to work in the morning. Edit: I was impatient. Backed up the Extra folder and removed original ApplePS2 and replaced it with yours Bronxteck. Two finger scroll works excellent, tap click works excellent (Even after sleep!), I no longer hear the repeating noise, and the trackpad prefpane works perfectly. Awesome work!
  19. I am not saying it wasn't tested. It simply just does not work on my touchpad. (I've never ever had success with ANY branches of VoodooPS2.) Currently, I'm using the ApplePS2 because it gives me constant tap click. I don't mind not having edgescroll, as I did not like it in Windows either and I would much rather have two finger scroll. As for the "7" key repeating... It only does it when I wake the machine up. I have also noticed that the speakers play the noise that OS X makes when you push an incorrect keyboard shortcut and the "7" key repeats every time I hear that sound. (Even if I was muted before sleep.) If I Fn+PageDwn to turn the volume down, it stops repeating that noise, and the "7" key stops going berserk. Seriously Slice. I've been plagued with this problem since Leopard GM days. I've only ever been able to use stock PS2 kexts and this package: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88811. And I only used FFScroll package because it gave me tapclick on the touchpad and two finger scroll. Definitely does not work with SL though.
  20. Kernel.log is attached. Many thanks slice. kernel.log.zip
  21. Thats one of your problems. There should only be one partition on the USB drive.
  22. First time I've ever saw it either, so I figured I'd throw it out there. Its no big deal. Mainly a cosmetic fix. Just an oddity I figured I'd show you guys for giggles.
  23. Anyone know why my D520 shows as a "Mac Pro" on the login screen, but as a MacBook Pro in System Profiler? (It even say's "Bob Damnit's Mac Pro" on the System Profiler title window? Here's what I'm talking about: (I had to take this with Grab. For some reason, Command+Shift+3/4 doesn't work.) System Profiler.tiff
  24. Try with a retail 10.6.0 disk. Should work just fine. I tried with a 10.6.3 retail disk on my D520. Hung in neverland just like you explained. A 10.6.0 retail disk booted just fine.
