  1. Hi Bronxtech, How do you discover if you have eDP display (LVIS I think it is called?) on Windows? If there is a way to do that? I just fixed used precision M6500 i picked up and it booted into windows, and I would surely like to dual boot this sucker with sierra. Here are my specs. Intel Core i7 820QM @ 1.73Ghz, Clarksfield 45NM. NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M
  2. Aah, the DMG file at the URL Herve linked let's me just grab the kexts I can put in LE and rebuild cache. One question though. The latest version at that URL is 6.16.1372. However I grabbed 6.25.1426 from Rehabman recently when I build the M6400. Just for future reference, in case I shouldn't be using latest for any reason?
  3. LOL Jake Lo. Yes I know Rehabmans FakeSMC repository. That's what I used recently for M6400. My question was if some patching was going to be needed for the FakeSMC. If not, I can just take the latest in repo. This laptop working so well I didn't want to mess anything up with FakeSMC and prevent boot. Was thinking there was a reason sensor kexts were not there in the pack.
  4. Ah, that did the trick. I just noticed one more problem. The FakeSMC kext does not have the sensors kexts embedded, so HWMonitor is not providing GPU and CPU information. I'm assuming the FakeSMC kext in the pack was patched specifically for this laptop. Also I don't want to install HWSensors since it will put kexts in /S/L/E. Where can I get appropriate sensor kexts to include under Clover/kexts/other?
  5. All Right... - Reinstalled - Updated to 10.12.6 - Copied all kexts from /E/E to /L/E, repaired permissions and cache. - I'm still afraid to make kernel booter kexts = no, since last time that killed it) - Absolutely NO changes to /S/L/E - Wifi, Ethernet, Bluetooth work. - Sleep works somewhat (FN + F1, and From Menu). Closing Lid does not work - Shutdown does not work. NEED to fix this. I did apply patch correctly I think to dsdt. Screen goes blank but power button stays on. - Fixed smbios for CPU frequency, and removed memory (since I have different kind of memory and I really don't want to specify wrong speed and mess up) If anyone can please help me with my sleep, but especially Shutdown problem, would really appreciate it. EDIT: I have tried Rehabman's shutdown and shutdown v2 patches for laptop, but no dice. Attaching latest files. Extra.zip
  6. Okay so this is what I will do. Boot with usb stick and enter terminal. Mount HD, move kexts from SLE to LE and repair permissions And for fakesmc I will keep in extra folder.
  7. Bronxtech - yeah I tried -s, buṭi get same error. I can boot of usb stick and mount my HD in terminal. So anything I can try there? One thing I know I forgot is removing sleep images and changing hibernate mode. Not sure if related. Herve, smbios 7.x looked closest to the CPU, I will go check when I have working laptop again. Right now I am pulling my hair. I see others have faced same error, but situation does not seem same as mine. All I did was insert wifi card and it even worked immediately. Then reboot and unexpectedly I see this problem
  8. Herve, my problem was this... https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Install ...and that got fixed. However, I have a much worse problem now. I installed DW1510 and it worked like a charm. On reboot, I get ... header read size 200 Incorrect image signature, expected version 10.7 I have put all kexts in /S/L/E and turned kernel booter kexts = No long time back. I simply installed DW1510, saw my wifi come to life, and then on reboot get above error. Hope I don't have to install again
  9. Okay so I was able to get the keyboard / mouse working during USB boot and proceeded to install. I left it unattended so assuming it installed completely. On reboot, when I try to boot from HD, I get... "Memory allocation error! Addr: 0x180ffff0, Size: 0x10, File: xml.c, Line:1176" I'm able to boot with -f flag. Needless to say something is not right, but what? Attaching my extra folder. PS - There is nothing wrong with RAM on this laptop. I've tested all hardware thoroughly and installed Windows and everything on other hard drive. Extra.zip
  10. So you are saying I should rename EHC1/2 to EH01/2 and use USB injection? I did try but it didn't help. Just so I'm clear. First I didn't find any EHC1 in the DSDT. I did find EHC2 which I changed to EH02 Now I'm seeing a bunch of EHCI entries. Should I be changing those to EH0I? No I should be changing EHCI to EH01. That was it!!! I'm trying to proceed with install now. One problem Mouse and key board does not work. The Voodoo kexts for mouse and keyboard in M4400 pack did not work. ApplePS2Controller also did not work. Any suggestions? Proceeding with USB mouse keyboard for now
  11. Okay, Clover was a non-starter. Time to move to Enoch. So I looked at the M4400 bootpack. I have applied DSDT patches for Penryn Core2Duo ICH9. I'm getting the dreaded "Still waiting for root device" problem. I did try replacing EHC1/2 with EH01/2 and using USB Injector, while I think that's only for USB 3.0. So I've reverted back. I did try all USB ports with/without this fix. Files are attached. If someone can tell me where I'm making mistake. AND also attaching "raw" dsdt in case I totally hosed it up somewhere when I applied patches (while I was quite careful). Extra.zip M6400_raw_dsdt.zip
  12. Okay, so I finally cleaned it up and seem to have a stable machine with windows installed on HD2. Will attempt to install 10.12 on HD1. I'm starting to work on patching DSDT now. While I'm doing that wanted to ask if I should use Chameleon or Clover. I would like to get iMessage working so if Clover is a possibility I would like to try that. Old laptop so now UEFI, not sure how well Clover will work. I will wait on advice while I start preparing USB with Clover (if I can).
  13. Thanks, Herve! Will give it a shot soon. Been a little busy with some stuff. Actually I have to do a M6400 as well as a M6500. Probably try the M6400 first.
  14. Doh! I didn't know you could hide updates. I need to figure out how to do that. By the way iMessage seems to work. Facetime doesn't do diddly though.
  15. You will not believe my stupid problem !!! I was having the kext Contents folder open in finder whenever I attempted rebuilding cache. That was my effin problem all this time. Bluetooth works. SLEEP also works. Trim is enabled! My bluetooth is Dell 380. See this post https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/6238-dell-latitude-e6530-i7-3840qm/page-2&do=findComment&comment=35612 The one difference is IOUSBDevice should be IOUSBDeviceHost. The new kext has it that way. It is not perfect solution I guess since OS update will kill the fix. But I can take a backup. And here's something impossible. Bluetooth On/Off works. SD Card slot works!!! I've never EVER gotten these to work in any laptop thus far. I think I am basically done here. Yippee!!! Can you tell me if I can go ahead and install the thunderbolt update so i will stop giving me annoying reminder? I am thinking if I don't have the hardware it should be fine. IOBluetoothFamily.kext.zip
  16. Sorry, but I already have all those files. Yes, I remembered to include HFI efi. The file names and dates and sizes in "patched" I'm using are identical. I tried modifying IOBluetoothFamily plugin Broadcom kext inserting product id and vendor id for bluetooth 380. No dice Error 107 still an issue. Not sure what to do about it. will keep trying, but i feel i have hit a wall right now.
  17. Hi Bronxtech, No I didnn't have HFSPlus.efi in EFI/clover/drivers64UEFI. Sorry if I missed that in instructions, but I could've sworn it didn't mention anything about that efi file. Now I do. Now, F12 and selecting USB stick gives me the same issue. HOWEVER, just letting it boot to USB gives me Clover menu with Install OS X option !!! Would like to know what's going on and I dunno what's going to happen later when I need to boot from USB and SSD will also have OSX, but for now, I added -v to "Options" and trying to get further along. Will report progress here. It says installing, about 12 minutes remaining, progress bar not moving for last 10 minutes. I'm going to wait few hours if I have to. So it took 1 hour. Following instructions. Issues I'm seeing 1)When building kextcache, get the following error. Error 107 rebuilding /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel. Not sure if problematic. Any idea? 2) couldn't generate SSDT because I don't see "wizard icon". The SSDT in "patched" seems to be working fine. 3) Should I install Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 from AppStore. I'm thinking I should leave that alone. 4) I did the hibernatemode thing. Trying to put machine to sleep from menu simply blanks screen somnetimes. Other times it works. So something not quite right 5) Bluetooth not recognized. Dell Kext which works with e6500 does not work here.
  18. Sorry, stupid question. In Advanced Boot Options in BIOS I select UEFI. After that I don't see any of my devices listed. Is this correct? I click Add Boot Option but it does not let me do anything. So I did F12, and try to boot USB. I get boot0: GPT boot0: GPT boot0: error I went back to BIOS and I now see UEFI: PMAP option added. This wasn't there when I switched from Legacy to UEFI and Exited. So I unchecked it and it went away on next boot. Of course, I still cannot boot my usb. This is the funny part. If I don't hit F12 then laptop will still boot into Clover. EXCEPT, I don't see option to install OSX but just two options to install Windows (Windows 7 happens to be on the HD I will be wiping) PS - I used the latest version of Clover, not the one in the guide. I presume I am supposed to always take latest version. PPS - The only thing different I did when preparing USB stick is to rename my stick "Install OS X Sierra"
  19. Okay, I'm back. Finally got around to downgrading to A11. For some reason it wouldn't let me downgrade to A02. I had first had to do A05. No worries at least it didn't fry the machine. Once on A05 I was able to do A02, then back up to A11. Phew! I have Windows 7 on this laptop right now. Came with it. However I am ready to wash it and only install Mac OS X I have one ridiculous problem. Mouse will not work in BIOS. ?!?!?!?!! I guess I messed something up. I can use keyboard to navigate. Mouse pad itself is fine because it works in Windows. I will try Clover on this one since it is Intel HD. The only time Enoch didn't work for me was with the one Intel HD laptop I used for a friend. So one question before I begin. If I don't plan on dual booting this laptop, do I need UEFI? Or does it matter either way if I leave Legacy or UEFI. I want to try get FaceTime and iMessage working on this one for first time after I'm done so don't want to mess things up at the beginning.
  20. Okay I have now done both FakeSMC patch and also set hibernatemode off. So far so good. Laptop seems very stable with 10.12.6.
  21. I solved my problem. Hope it helps someone. The problem really is searching for problem with Google, With google, with right term for Google go to chrome://flags Disable "Accelerated 2D canvas". Once you get there, then you can set hardware acceleration off. then renable 2d canvas. In settings now some stuff still has artifacts, but you can get by. Phew! Now I actually am using Google Canary, because I thought maybe they fixed some issues, but it should work for google as well.
  22. I posted this in the e6500 forum. Could my problem be I haven't done following yet? sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 sudo pmset hibernatefile /dev/null sudo rm -f /var/vm/sleepimage Not sure if they go hand in hand. Of course, my Google Chrome problem still persists, so dunno what to do about that Finally, when you say revert back, it would go to the D630 GPU Id. Clearly I should completely remove the patch right? Couldn't possible help using D630 patch for e6500.
  23. Hi Herve, Can you please clarify if these two go hand in hand and is necessary to do the second fix for the e6400 and e6500? Not sure it applies like it did for D630. GPU performance tuning has been injected into FakeSMC kext and no longer requires additional action at this stage Disable hibernation (can be done later, but should be done): open up Terminal and type the following commands sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 sudo pmset hibernatefile /dev/null sudo rm -f /var/vm/sleepimage Needless to say, the FakeSMC patch should be against Vendor 10de and Device 06eb for the Nvidia Quadro NVS 160M.
  24. Okay so I was still loading from E/E with kernel booster kexts = yes, until I got things working. For some reason correcting the patch to match GPU Id in E/E kernel dumps. So now I turned the kernel flag = no, and then moved all my kexts to S/L/E including the patch fix for GPU Id. This time my machine booted fine, but not sure it was faster. Regardless, at least it booted. The problem is it has not fixed my Chrome issue. What else can I try? PS : Also I left my laptop alone for couple of hours, expecting it to be sleeping, but when I come back there was some kernel panic crash. When I rebooted, my CPU and GPU temperatures were much higher. I'm afraid I might have made things worse with the FakeSMC patch. Also my screen randomly blanks out and then comes back...
