RamiTrainFan
So i'm looking at a Dell Latitude E6440 with a Radeon HD 8690M and a Core i5-4310M It has 4 GB of ram but i'm planning to upgrade it. So can it run macOS? And what's the latest it can run? Photo attached below for more info.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted February 25, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 25, 2019 You can run with the latest MacOS with Haswell CPU, the Nvidia will need to be disabled. See guide here
RamiTrainFan
It's an AMD.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted February 25, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 25, 2019 Doesn't matter, the discrete graphics need to be disabled otherwise it'll just drain the battery. You can't use it anyway in OSX. There's no way of switching like on a real Mac.
rea1l1
Hey RamiTrainFan and Jake Lo! To Rami: Did you find success following Jake Lo's suggestion of using Herve's tutorial? To Jake Lo: I also have a dual graphics card E6440 and meticulously used your general stickied High Sierra tutorial and failed to boot into installer and I am wondering why you didn't suggest using that tutorial instead. Do you think following Herve's tutorial will produce better results for me? Thank you! (Hope ya'll don't mind me tacking onto this topic instead of making a new one as this is directly related.) Administrators Hervé Posted March 11, 2019 Administrators Share Posted March 11, 2019 Rami's gone; won't reply. I guess I'm overdue for an update of my E6440 guide. Outside sheer laziness, one of the reasons for not doing it was that I used a hybrid method to install High Sierra and retained that hybrid method for updates. By hybrid, I mean that, since Enoch did not support High Sierra installation and/or updates, I use Clover for initial installation and all subsequent updates. But for regular use, I still boot and run High Sierra with Enoch.
