7470 boots from USB - not from drive

Recommended Posts

Trying to upgrade to Catalina 10.15.6 on my Dell Latitude 7470. I can boot fine from the USB, but not from internal drive with same EFI and kexts.

When trying to boot from hard drive it goes to Apple logo but not progress bar. I'm stumped. Can anyone help please? I have attached my EFI folder. Thank you in advance for any assistance

The UEFI drivers in your file are a mess, the dates are all different. You shouldn't have AptioMemoryFix.efi and OsxAptioFix3Drv.efi.

One or the other, not both.

Replace the EFI files with this, just keep Kext/ACPI and Config.plist

Unfortunately that didn't work. No matter what I try to boot from that hard drive (internal drive or USB) nothing boots. I just get Apple logo, but progress bar never appears. Almost like a boot up fil is missing. Here is latest EFI folder. Thanks for your patience and help.

We need to see where it's hanging so enabling verbose mode helps.

Here, try this config. Verbose and vesa mode enabled, you can remove them after a fully running system

Post the KP or error message

That latest config.plist worked! I'll have to compare the working one with non-working one to see what changes you made so I learn. Only thing I had to do was move brcm files from L/E to Other

Thank you so very much

If you have those kexts in /L/E prior to upgrade, you don't need to do it again. You just need to repair permissions and rebuild cache, unless the kexts are newer.

I updated my clover to 4121 and now my e7470 won't boot own it's own or with a USB drive. I have updated all the kext. I also rebuilt the cache as well. Someone please help me. I am running Mojave.
