It's been a while but I only had 1GB of RAM maybe that was the issue, I actually ended up installing 10.6 and have it working good now since I posted last.  I used the iFail with some of the extras from here and myhack

I do have a minor  issue I always meant to ask, it would install fine 10.6 but it wouldn't boot so by trial/error I found out if I try to boot from the USB and then point to the installed partition it works and I've been using it like that.

Is it something minor I'm missing??? I got a lot of stuff so I won't be happy if this box gets messed up. If I install some Chameleon version on the installed SL partition will it help?? will it corrupt it???

   Thanks

Sounds like you indeed need to install/re-install the Chameleon bootloader. It won't do anytthing to your SL installation but, as always, if you have concerns, make backups beforehand...

Hello, I'm experiencing a similar problem. I downloaded an installation image of the Lion Direct from Apple Store, follow all procedures described here with EDP correct. Besides having configured the BIOS exactly as described here, but at some point have a kernel panic "System uptime in nanoseconds:" could you help me? Recalling that have 2 GB of ram. And the same with D430 did try with SL 10.6, even if I can not install I use a third party boot disk. WITH the procedure described here could not boot with SL too.

I'm almost throwing in the towel. I tried and did not work well. Even when I was almost giving up, I used a boot disk with the third option "mach_kernel" and got into the installation process. I realized that the Lion is actually a lot heavier than the SL, but the application that I use requires a more current, and realized that when installing the update 10.6.8 SL on the system loses all configuration, video, audio, network and etc.. Now I have 2 solutions, or discover a cool upgrade for the SL 10.6.8 without losing system settings, or do an upgrade to Lion run better, and find a certain problem with the brightness level. In the BIOS is set to the maximum level, but upon entering the facility he lowers the brightness level and I can not increase. I am very grateful for your support, and I wonder how do I be a support for the project Latitude OSX, because here in Brazil we have thousands of users who wish to make a Hachintosh on your Dell equipment. I would be grateful to be a developer, systems analyst I am available to be a supporter. Thank you once again.

When you do your EDP System Build, in the Fixes tab, you have to select Brightness Fix. That'll sort out your issue.

Re: SL 10.6.8, you'd normally install SL 10.6.0 or SL 10.6.3, apply Combo update 10.6.8 but install EDP and run a SystemBuild before reboot. That last part is critical.
