stuartmc
About this Mac produces an NVidia GeForce 8400M 256Mb if that helps. About to try the 10.8.2 update will let you know how I get on with that.
stuartmc
10.8.2 gives the usual fail but after restart it is 10.8.2 Resolved the trackpad problem by switching off two finger scrolling. Someone suggested ANV-Slice to fix this but I am not sure what this will do and how to install it.
Administrators Hervé Posted December 11, 2012 Administrators Share Posted December 11, 2012 If you've installed EDP, it's available in the list of installation kexts. On the D630, it's one of the kexts I've had to use to get keyboard+mouse/trackpad to work.
stuartmc
Thanks for all the help so far. Now have a problem with the wireless card, ordered what I thought was a 1490 but it seems to be a chinese copy. The genuine 1490 I have in the D630 works fine in the M4300 and is identified in the BIOS as Dell Wireless Card. The chinese copy is identified as a Broadcom in the BIOS but OSX doesn't see it. Is there a generic kext for this card and can someone gove me instructions on how to incorporate it. The card ID is BCM94311MCA GBP2 rev P2
Administrators Hervé Posted December 13, 2012 Administrators Share Posted December 13, 2012 943xx cards are understood to be supported under Mac OS X; if yours is not supported/operational out of the box, try to use a kext like IO80211Family or add the dev id to the kext. Administrators Bronxteck Posted December 15, 2012 Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2012 have you tried swapping the cards to see if this new one works in the old machine? if it's a 1945 instead of a 1940 then yes you have to add your device id's like Herve said.
