Mister3000
Hi Guys, Thanks to this forum i am running OS 10.7.5 perfectly on my D630 with intel graphics 1440. Only problem is that once in a while i get ramdom freezer and i have to restart the machine. Question: Is there anywhere like any logs or maybe something i can install that would allow me to pin point whats causing the computer to freeze ? Thanks in advance for the help. Administrators Hervé Posted April 2, 2013 Administrators Share Posted April 2, 2013 Look in your logs: Apps -> utilities -> console Does it seem to happen with any particular application or is it totally random? Did you install tools like iStats or HWMonitor to keep an eye on HDD/RAM/CPU/T°/etc ?
Mister3000
The freezes are totally ramdon. Sometimes after 1 hr sometimes after 5 mins usage. I have not installed any sw but I will look at console for the logs. Any specific commands I should type ?
Administrators Hervé Posted April 3, 2013 Administrators Share Posted April 3, 2013 Just look in the various available logs. Consider the information of this thread too: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2186-random-ui-freeze-in-d630-intel-1440x900/&do=findComment&comment=17688
Mister3000
Ok, so by going to console I find that there is supposed to be something call crash report but for some reason is not being generated. Last night at 9:11 pm it frozed. When I rebooted and try and read the logs theres so musch stuff in it dont even know where to look. Any way to make it generate the crash report so that next time it frezzes I could get it ?

tman
I'm interested where this leads as I have the same issue on my Dell D630 Intel 1440x900 OSX 10.7.5 system. It randomly crashes (ie. KP). Seems to do it after I've been using the system for a couple hours.
Administrators Bronxteck Posted May 10, 2013 Administrators Share Posted May 10, 2013 if it's x3100 gma graphics it also happens to real macs with that graphics card. you should also watch your temps the fans might be clogged or need new thermal paste on your cpu and or gpu
tman
if it's x3100 gma graphics it also happens to real macs with that graphics card. you should also watch your temps the fans might be clogged or need new thermal past on your cpu and or gpu Thanks for that info. It was starting to seem like it was "heat" related, even though it would crash even when temps (shown via temperature monitor lite) were only in the 70's. Although the unit did feel hot which appeared mainly to be from the memory chips (2x2GB). ?? I checked the fan and it's clear. I've stopped using it for now. Going to try an installation ML later in the year.
