IMC042
I have a D630 with Mountain Lion which is working very well for me. I'm just wondering, If I was to update through the app store update to Mavericks is that going to break all of the things I worked so hard to get up and running? Administrators Hervé Posted October 23, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 23, 2013 Yes, it would break everything. You need to re-run a myHack 10.9 installer over your ML installation. You won't lose anything but that is the only safe way to upgrade to Mavericks.
xpeace
So what is the Right Way to upgrade ? Upgrade from Appstore and run myHack/EDP before Restart - is something like that possible ?
Administrators Hervé Posted October 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted October 27, 2013 1st make a backup of your /Extra folder somewhere safe. Download Mavericks, then make a myHack USB installer with the D630 boot pack, then install over your existing ML partition. Once in Mavericks, if need be, restore your backed up /Extra folder and re-un myFix (full).
Marceboy
After the install of Mavericks, I ran EDP. The aftermath was that I couldn't boot without the installer usb stick. When I ran Chameleon wizard, I found that EDP (or MyHack) had set the system to start up with a 32 bit kernel (and this doesn't exist!). The solution was to uncheck the 32 bit kernel flag via Chameleon Wizard, then all was well again!
iMick
Nice that you managed to get it working! We are aware that EDP used a 32 bit flag for some models. It has been solved now. https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/5589-edp-mavericks/
