marlawre
I built a brand new USB stick per the pre-installation instructions for installing Mavericks on this laptop. MBR was selected when I build the USB stick - all of the software (MyHack, etc.) was downloaded within the past 2 days, so I am guessing it is up to date. As soon as I select the language, I get the crash and the installer log shows the Exception Type as EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalud) and the exception codes are both 0X0000000000000000. I have looked at all the other topics and tried all the different start up options for boot (-x, usb fix, etc.) but nothing seems to help. Any ideas from anyone? Administrators Hervé Posted November 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2013 Try redoing your USB installer without the MBR patch. D630C is nVidia Quadro NVS 135M-only model, right?
Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2013 the issue is MBR patch.
marlawre
Thanks - that works perfectly! I have 10.9 installed and it's running great with the exception of the networking - I can't get either the wireless or ethernet to work at all. I have a USB wireless adapter but it doesn't have drivers for 10.9 so I'm stuck without networking and also can't run EDP because EDP says I need a network connection....researching firewire to Ethernet or USB to Ethernet to try and get it working. Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 28, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 28, 2013 is the ethernet on in bios? you should have an ethernet kext in the boot pack.
marlawre
Yes - ethernet is on in the BIOS, but when I look at the System Report, type Ethernet, hartdware Ethernet, BSD Device Name en0 is assigned to the active service Bluetooth PAN although I have disabled bluetooth in the BIOS. Any ideas?
Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 29, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 29, 2013 delete all your network devices in the networking prefpane then hit apply. add them back after that and apply again. although i am not sure if the d630c has a different network card. post an lspci of your hardware if possible. in terminal type lspci -nn
marlawre
Please bear with me - this is my first MyHack - so - very much a novice here. I deleted everything in network preferences and then tried to add an Ethernet back and the only thing it allows me to add is Bluetooth PAN. Administrators Hervé Posted November 29, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 29, 2013 Remove that Intel 4965 wireless card (or at least disable it in BIOS); it's not supported and will only cause issues which can go as far as Kernel Panics at startup. You'll need to replace that card by a supported model. Re: Ethernet, it would appear you have an Intel card as opposed to the usual Broadcom NetXtreme card for some reasons. That's why you have no Ethernet at the moment! 00:19.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1049] (rev 03) You need to use the kext linked below and remove BCM5722D kext that you have in /Extra/Extensions at the moment (it is useless). Run myFix (quick) after your kexts change. http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3468-intel82566mm-32-64-bit/
