RelmarBoys
Installed ML on a Dell XPS 420, using myHack. The installer worked fine. After the first "Solo" boot, I hit the "Stop / Prohibitory Sign" - I'm pretty sure it relates to the AHCI / SATA setup which is not available on the Dell BIOS Setup. Any chance of setting this straight ? thanks RB
Darvinko
You are probably going to have to find a DSDT for your system and place it in the Extra or extract and patch one. There is a documented procedure on the forums for having one prepared for you.
Administrators Hervé Posted January 6, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 6, 2014 Can you please list your specs of that machine? CPU, chipset, graphics card, RAM, HDD, LAN, wireless, etc. You don't necessarily require AHCI setup to install and run ML (or OS X). Eg: Latitude D620 or many other systems that do not have specific SATA AHCI enabling facility in the BIOS, yet run ML without problem. What options do you have in BIOS, if anything at all? If you have RAID, you can try to use that instead (without creating any array of course). Did you try and boot your installation with Chameleon boot flag -v to see where it hangs? RelmarBoys
Thanks. Here's my Setup: Mobo: Dell XPS420, BIOS A07 Processor: Intel Core2 Quad 2.4GHz Memory: 2GB DDR2 667mhz, ML (in progress) Drives: System Drive: WD 2TB (Partitioned to 2) Video Card: Asus (not sure which) Network - on-board ethernet.-v hangs in "Still Waiting for Root Device" Boot Options - BIOS - I have "Sata Operation" with RAID Autodetect / ATA or RAID on The weird thing is that even though on the boot sequence I can see my internal drive - and I could also install ML on it. But now for some weird reason if I boot using myHack, the internal drive is not showing, can't see the drive in Disk Utility / myHack utility. thanks ! Administrators Hervé Posted January 6, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 6, 2014 You really need to identify that video card model, it's important in Mac OS X as it may or may not be supported and that totally impacts usability of the system. If the card proved to be unsupported, forget OS X until you replace it with a supported model. Did you try booting with option PciRoot=1/2/3/4 ? Did you try setting your SATA operation to RAID=On ? RelmarBoys
Updates ! Updates ! OK. managed to get the sleeping beauty to wake up. I had a little AHCI-kext bonanaza. Also added a dsdt. HOWEVER - Video is 1024 No ethernet. Any ideas ? Will yank the video card and see - however this machine was a functional SL machine 3 years ago, until someone bricked it with a careless system update. So I know the video card worked fine. Are you using GraphicsEnabler=Yes boot option? Please give us an lpsci output with Terminal command lspci -nn !

Administrators Hervé Posted January 7, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2014 Ok, that confirms GeForce G210 graphics card, for which the boot option mentioned above should trigger full support natively. If not, post a copy of your DSDT + saved IORegistryExplorer output and we'll get the card injected into the DSDT. I don't see any Ethernet controller listed, it's probably disabled in BIOS...
