AFAIK, your machine is defined by smbios.plist and you get one installing EDP. So, it is not the fakeSMC causing you seeing the wrong machine but the information in smbios.plist. It defines your machine as MacBook3,1. I think that's because this is the next best Apple definition for your D830. If you still want to have MacBook Pro, you need other smbios.plist or you need to change the one you have accordingly.

 

Yes, you are 100% correct about smbios.plist is what defines the information. As for the most part I stay out of plists because of my lack of understanding of how different strings could affect the operations. But I decided to compare one from my SL running EDP1.8 with SL running EDP1.9 and Lion running EDP 1.9. I kind a figured that one out. I have restored the 3.1 macbook smbios.plist as it was the one running the best.
