Administrators Bronxteck Posted February 5, 2014 Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2014 yes you need the password. but there might be an option in bios to bypass password from sleep. so you only need it for a cold boot. at least d430 has the option. Administrators Hervé Posted February 5, 2014 Administrators Share Posted February 5, 2014 D420 behaves exactly like the D430 in every respect. So password is required to avoid KP at wake but, as reminded by Bronx, if BIOS is configured as per published recommended settings, you'll "only" have to enter system password at cold boot and restart, not on wake. estreichj
Found sleep worked fine after I updated my original install of 10.6 to 10.6.8. Very happy now I have a working machine to give my daughter for school. Thanks guys, much appreciated.
