stickybeak
Hi, I wish to request EDP for a DELL Latitude E6530 i7-3840QM. I believe complete specs can be seen on the attached AIDAreport.htm. I am planning to dual boot, if possible, this laptop with OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks and Windows 7. I have created/prepared so far a USB installer using myHack. I attempted to install but It got stuck on the Apple boot logo. Comments and suggestions are very much welcome! Any help will be greatly appreciated. Moderators Jake Lo Posted February 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2014 You need to disable Optimus in the BIOS, and enable AHCI in SATA Operations.
stickybeak
@Bronxteck, Thanks @Jake, Thank you so much! I must have overlooked it while configuring the BIOS, the installation finally went through after unchecking OPTIMUS. May I ask how to identify devices that needed "kexts" to work? For one, the LAN port is not working. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am at the moment installing Windows 7 on the other partition. EDIT2: While browsing the forums for post installation, I decide to download Windows updates...
Moderators Jake Lo Posted February 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2014 from terminal, run "lspci -nn" and paste output here. Most Dell Latitude I work with has Intel Lan, but I've seen a few that are Broadcom. The output above will determine what it has. Maybe you're referring to the wireless. If it's Intel, it's not supported and will need to be replaced. If you have bluetooth, that requires patched kext.SD card reader needs voodooSDHCSome wireless card (atheros) require patched kext

Moderators Jake Lo Posted February 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2014 Your Lan should be working, it has an Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection. Kext is already provided in my [/size]bootpack. The one thing that does not work is your wireless card, it needs to be replaced. Have you tested the SD card reader? If you have a smart card reader or fingerprint reader, those has not been working.
stickybeak
You are correct, the LAN is now working. As for the wireless card, when you say "it needs to be replaced" do I need to physically change the card or just kext? Sorry for this silly question, I am new to OSX moreso, Hackintoshing and appreciate so much you're assistance and guidance. I have yet to test the card reader when I get hold of a SD card. Also, as you mentioned, the fingerprint reader is not working. I am not sure though if my unit has smart card reader
