theunoticeable
Hey folks,I am currently trying to install OS X Lion 10.7 on a Dell Latitude D620. I have followed the instructions under the EDP documentation to a T using the myhack method. All goes well with myhack, I have created a proper bootable USB and everything goes smoothly HOWEVER Once OS X Installer boots up and I click "continue" on the language selection screen, All I get is an Error message:Mac OS X 10.7 Cannot be installed on this computerRestore from backup / Restart I have formatted the hard drive to Mac OS journaled, Tried both MBR and GUID options I have tried running the installer in verbose and safe mode. I am out of ideas....anyone?
Administrators Hervé Posted May 31, 2014 Administrators Share Posted May 31, 2014 You need a retail version of OS X.
theunoticeable
It was a retail copy. Just to be sure, I downloaded "install Mac OS X lion" app from mac store. I re-did the myhack USb installer, which went through without issue. I installed the extra folder using myhack as well. NOW when it gets past the bootloader, I get a perpetual black screen
Administrators Hervé Posted June 1, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 1, 2014 Which model of D620? Did you configure the BIOS as recommended in the dedicated thread?
Administrators Bronxteck Posted June 1, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 1, 2014 look it the bios info to see if it has nvidia or GMA graphics. then download the appropriate boot pack also look at your screen resolution.
theunoticeable
I've configured the BIOS as specified in the D620 thread. The graphics chip is intel, which I downloaded the correct bootpack for (as well as the correct sizing) I'm going to try an alternate USB stick to see if that does anything.Funny thing is, I put Snow leopard onto a D620 a couple of years ago, and it was nowhere near this troublesome. Will keep you posted as to what happens.
theunoticeable
No dice. I re-did the USB installer on a brand new usb stick. I updated the bios in my machine to A10 (it was on A4)I re-downloaded the 10.7 bootpack for my graphics chip (intel 945GM aka GMA950) and installed it via myhack I tried the stick with the Edp installed and without. After it boots from the stick I get a blank screen. Nothing happens. I may try snow leopard instead
