Administrators Hervé Posted September 14, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 14, 2014 Does your D430 have a Core2Duo CPU? If so, boot with flags -f -v. If not, you have a 32bit CPU and you're limited to Snow Leopard (Lion and ML need 64bit C2D CPUs minimum). You can only boot 32bit (i.e. with Chameleon option arch=i386) the MLPF installer and/or your "MLPF'ed" ML installation. Naturally, the initial vanilla ML installation is 64bit kernel mode only. As Spock would say, it's only logical...
Trunyce
My Specs are identical to yours Hervé. I just don't understand why the loader never goes pass those outputs. Same thing happens when i boot with -f -v.
Administrators Hervé Posted September 14, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 14, 2014 Duff installer maybe. Did you check that your BIOS was configured as per recommended settings in the dedicated pinned thread of this very section? No Intel wireless that you would have kept enabled? Trunyce
As a matter of fact I didn't. I will go through the bios settings again later on tonight. Hopefully that's what was causing the issue. I'll report back later on. Thanks for the input guys.
Trunyce
I set the bios as recommended and i still couldn't boot up until i reinstalled another bootloader which was ML2_Bootloader_installer which went through the verbose screen up until those last two lines: Controller: Intel 82001G (vendo ID: 8086, device ID: 27dB) Previous Shutdown Cause: 5 then machine reboots. I couldn't find a way to post the picture here so I just typed it.
Administrators Hervé Posted September 15, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 15, 2014 That kind of reboot is usually a sign of unsupported vanilla kernel. I suspect you may not have a Core2Duo model… What does your BIOS Device Info page show?
Trunyce
I believe it is a core 2 duo model just like the one in your signature. How do i attach a picture on here so i could show you?

Administrators Hervé Posted September 16, 2014 Administrators Share Posted September 16, 2014 Disable or remove your Intel wireless card. It will have to be replaced by a supported model.
