sahilsaid
My Headphones on El Capitan installation is not working. When I plug in the headphones, the sound keeps on playing on speakers. Under System preferences > Sound > output tab there is only one entry and that is internal speakers. Do I have to make any specific changes for the headphone socket to work? Moderators Jake Lo Posted April 8, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 8, 2016 Try placing system to sleep, wake it up and try the headphone again. It should autoswitch when headphone is inserted. What kexts are you using? VoodooHDA or patched AppleHDA?

Administrators Hervé Posted April 9, 2016 Administrators Share Posted April 9, 2016 +1. With patched AppleHDA, you need to put laptop to sleep then wake it when you switch from speakers to headphones. Failing that, headphone volume is extremely low until sleep/wake is done.
