some latitude
I have successfully installed and updated to 10.11.3, but any further update the guide indicates I should be installing certain audio kexts? I just want to make sure I am taking the correct steps, I know how to install kexts - I have installed the track pad kexts which really improved its usability - so I also hope that kext and the one I use for my atheros card will carry over to the update. Let me know! Thank you!
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 6, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 6, 2017 If you are to upgrade to anything over 10.11.3, make sure to upgrade the AppleHDA_ALC292 and VoodooPS2Controller linked in the Updated section of my guide
some latitude
so can I go straight to the latest version of 10.11.x? just make sure I get these kexts upgraded. And that would just mean removing the old one from the extensions lib and adding the new one with kext helper?
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 6, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 6, 2017 That's correct. I suggest replacing them first before upgrading, otherwise you'll encounter KP.
some latitude
I did everything as advised, reloaded my wifi kext after the update, as I lost wifi - and that worked. One problem I noticed after the update, right away - was that once caps lock is enabled, it will not disable until I reboot. Any ideas?
Administrators Hervé Posted March 8, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 8, 2017 Tried the double keypress to remove CAPS lock? That's necessary under Sierra.
some latitude
I did try this, as well as reloading the voodoo ps2 controller kext for the update. I also went ahead and tried the keyboard viewer, but it does not respond to enabling or disabling the caps lock option.
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 8, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 8, 2017 Make sure you don't have another PS2 controller anywhere in your system. Check Clover/Kexts/Other or 10.12 or /L/E or /S/L/E Look for ApplePS2Controller as well as VoodooPS2Controller or any other.
some latitude
THERE IS A VOODOOPS2 IN THE CLOVER/KEXTS/OTHER FOLDER, AND I DO HAVE A DIR ON MY DESKTOP THAT CONTAINS THESE KEXTS AS WELL. SHOULD I REMOVE THE VOODOOPS2 KEXT FROM MY DESKTOP AND EFI/CLOVER/KEXTS/OTHER? SORRY FOR CAPS
Moderators Jake Lo Posted March 8, 2017 Moderators Share Posted March 8, 2017 No, kext on in /L/E or /S/L/E or Clover/Kexts/Other folder and cache won't load unless you manually load it after logon. I have DrHurt's version R6B6 and Caps Lock works correctly. Single tap to Lock and single tap to unlock caps.
