  1. to use the updated OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller these instructions are specified... https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Install Do we need to follow them to get the trackpad working? Or just replace VoodooPS2Controller-R6B6.kext
  2. Upgraded to Bios A13, Reformatted HD, Installed as Clean Install using new APFS file system, Installed Clover 4289 latest version CANNOT boot from HD Can only boot using the USB EFI partition Graphics Works, Keyboard Works, Trackpad Buttons work, Trackpad itself DOES NOT work, Audio works Remaining issues are Booting without needing to use the USB EFI partition... Use of Trackpad...
  3. I have reinstalled High Sierra a few times. This is what I have encountered : 1. Using that dsdt file DSDT-NVS_Off.zip, the Nvidia card was disabled... 2. each time it seems I get display using HD4000 only a few times... 3. it seems to turn itself off and hitting fn up arrow or down arrow does not turn the display on. 4. sound seems to work 5. ethernet seems to work was able to install a clean High Sierra ... But as soon as I added additional kext, encountered the screen turning off again. So main problem seems to be the screen turning off upon reboot. Not sure how to fix this.
  4. this was a direct upgrade... the same EFI partition is on the USB and on the HD... upgraded without the reformatting to APFS format... (the terminal command) Strange the EFI boot loader folder "drivers64uefi" is missing the HFSPlus-64.efi and EFSplus.efi drivers... I did not remove them...
  5. trying boot without caches... that worked... I have sound... have keyboard do not have trackpad... Cannot boot from hard drive, must use USB with EFI partition... Get "invalid partition table" when trying to boot from HD So using USB drive to boot... Can boot only without caches...
  6. 1. Was able to install 10.13.1 onto my system, 2. can only boot from USB, 3. computer says "no bootable device" 4. have to use usb drive to boot system, 5. have been able to boot into system through single user mode... reinstalled clover 4268 attached boot log attached screen of spot when normal boot crashed. bootlog.log.txt Screen Shot 2017-10-31 at 9.55.02 PM.pdf
  7. Jake : In this post you have a DSDT for E6520 which disable nvidia... https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/5943-dell-latitude-e6520-e6420-with-optimus-enabled-mavericks/ Are you able to do this for the E6530?
  8. This is my EFI file... It has worked with both of my E6530 laptops without issue. It probably needs to be patched to eliminate nvidia card. But seems complicated to do that. I might be over thinking this.
  9. Jake : Tried the E6530_Optimus.zip files back and forth... Used just the AHCI files from the pack because the kext contained put me into a boot-crash cycle Either way, the files did turn off the nvidia card and was able to get High Sierra to install... BUT the system was very unstable... Even using the files in Sierra, the system because unstable... a usb port was inactivated, the machine would sleep after 10-20 seconds there must be a way to get a patch just to turn the nvidia discrete graphics card OFF and have nothing else affected.
  10. TESTING again... only used your aml files... Did not use your kext or config.sys files... Attempting High Sierra install now... Direct upgrade using : /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --converttoapfs NO
  11. Jake... this set of .aml files does not seem to work... Will try again... Others are having same issue of needed the nvidia card not active "at all" in dsdt As if the graphics card is not even in the system...
  12. Having similar issue... Need to patch DSDT to kill nvidia video. The EFI folder that I was trying out from Jake didn't seem to work...
  13. The bootpack of the 6530 HD400 only does not seem to disable the nvidia graphics card.
  14. That set of EFI files did not work Could not get to Apple logo Tried -v but didn’t even get beyond initial few lines Need to turn nvidia card completely off or disable it Really don’t care about hdmi so much...
  15. Attached is a zipped EFI folder... and a screen shot of the system information graphics pane... 6530_EFI.zip Screen Shot 2017-10-02 at 8.35.52 PM.pdf
  16. This is the screen I get when I try to upgrade to High Sierra... I can turn the computer off and reboot into Sierra... This is booting using EFI partition on the HD using a High Sierra USB volume created by Pandora's Box...
  17. Also... this machine screen goes black (as if it immediately sleeps) right after I select the boot icon in clover... I can get the screen back by going function - up arrow...
  18. Upgraded from 10.12.6... Have only been using HD 4000... How can you use Optimus NVS5200m? Will that give me HDMI output? Will try this from a fresh E6530 (I have a spare as these were relatively inexpensive on eBay)
  19. Upgraded to Clover with my E6230... downloaded High Sierra used this command /Applications/"Install macOS High Sierra.app"/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --converttoapfs NO --agreetolicense because didn't want my HD to convert to the new format AND because a previous attempt on my E6530 trashed the HD... ____ The machine rebooted... and everything went well.. Now I have a nice little High Sierra machine... Had to run permission.sh to clean up cache and prelinked kernel... Had to reboot a few times for audio BUT everything works now...
  20. Tried to upgrade to Clover with my E6530... downloaded High Sierra used this command /Applications/"Install macOS High Sierra.app"/Contents/Resources/startosinstall --converttoapfs NO --agreetolicense because didn't want my HD to convert to the new format... AND because a previous attempt trashed the HD... ____ The machine rebooted... Got a screen with a scrambled Apple Logo and a swirling circle... this went on and on and on... Finally determined that the upgrade didn't really work... ______ Unsure about what to do...
  21. Installed to a 2nd DX58so board... Still having the problems with the config.plist... when i reuse the one from the 1st machine it boots all the way up... BUT when i change the SMBIOS to reflect a different serial number, it goes into an endless boot loop. Never gets to desktop. Have to boot with the Clover CD to get into the machine...
  22. Put together a D975XBX2 build. Works when booting from the CD.. BUT hangs at ACPI: Sleep States What do I do? Can get it up and running while booting from cd (no sound, no ethernet)... So I can adjust config.plist...
  23. Well... this new build seems to work really well.. Thanks for everyone's help on this.
  24. I ended up using Clover Configurator and modified it step by step... It works with modifications now... The question is whether the current file has all the correct options selected... I didn't modify much from the config.plist file from the Clover boot cd... Everything works now... I had heard that the DX58so board has power management issues... Does this mean that sleep is an issue?
