    Let's get started...

I use the myhack method for this build, so follow instructions to build your USB installer, set BIOS settings and run the OSX Installation from here http://myhack.sojugarden.com/guide/

For best results, set BIOS to default, apply it and then  go back to set Sata Operation to AHCI
    1. After creating your USB installer, run myHack again
    2. Select Install Extra and point to the Extra folder attached Extra_6430u_Mav_i7-3667u.zip
    3. Boot up system with USB installer disk with the -v flag
    4. Format the HDD per instruction from myHack (Guid/Journaled Extended)
    5. Continue with the Installation
    6. Select "Use my Own" when prompt and point to the Extra folder in the root of the USB installer
    7. When prompt to remove problematic kexts, select Yes, Yes, No
    8. After a few minutes, it'll restart the computer. Remove the USB installer
    9. Complete the customization ( if you get Invalid Partition Table during boot - just hit enter)
    10. After logging on: in System Preferences
      • Enable Clicking for Trackpad

      • Allow apps downloaded from: Anywhere for Security & Privacy

      • Launch myHack, Install Chameleon to fix the "Invalid Partition Table" error

    :excl: Important

    • If you have higher resolution (1600x900), replace AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext in the bootpack otherwise you'll get a blank screen after boot. zip.gif  AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext.zip   361.77KB   158 downloads

    :excl:  :excl: BIOS UPDATE

    •  Don't update BIOS to version A07 or A08, causes major screen artifacts!
    • Fixed bt applying the FBMem patch that reduces memory from 16MB to 8MB

    Fixes:

    • post-1549-0-58690800-1380647467.png
    • If you encounter error above when launching DVD Player, replace zip.gif  DVDPlayback.framework.zip   2.86MB   13 downloads

in System/Library/Frameworks. Don't forget to backup the original file.

  2. So the SSDT got all your USB ports working now?

For port replicator to work, you might need your DSDT patched. I'm no expert when it comes to patching DSDT.

There might be some issue with HDMI and HDMI audio for HD 4600 mobile on 10.9.4 and no solution as far as I know for now.

  3. Those must be USB 3.0 ports. GenericUSBXHCI.kext should work. Check kextstat to see if it's loaded.

It might require a patched DSDT to work.

Looks like i7-4610M is not in the script. I'll try to generate one for you

  4. I believe that boot pack is for 10.9.2, so the patched kernel won't work for 10.9.4. Get it here on the bottom of the guide.

Also you can't use the SSDT for your CPU. After building your system, use HVT to generate the SSDT for you CPU, under tools->SSDT Generator.

The gpu for your unit is HD4600 not HD4400, so if you don't get graphics right, use Chameleon Wizard, change the FB value to 10 instead of 12. Also you can add dart=0 to the boot.plist.

  5. You have to take into account what version of Mavericks you're installing as the patched kernel is different and what version the boot pack has.Your attachment didn't get added, please link to it if you download it from there.

  6. OptiPlex 990 family.jpg

Recently got a hold of an Optiplex 990. Saw a few threads here regarding this model but no guide or bootpack in any of them, so I decided to write one up. An easy build as mentioned by Dan Marshall, runs really smooth.

It comes with an AMD HD5450, didn't try the built-in Intel HD2000.

    Credits:

    Conti - for myHack

    Slice - latest VoodooHDA 2.8.6

Dr. Hurt from Insanelymac - patch DSDT for HD5450M

    Specs:

    i5 - 2400 3.1GHz | 8GB ram | HD2000/AMD HD 5450M | 128GB SSD | Mountion Lion 10.8.5 | Mavericks 10.9.4 | BIOS A18

    1. Build USB Installer with myHack
    2. Download and Extract bootpackExtra.zip

    3. Relaunch myHack, select Install Extra, select USB Installer as target drive. Select "Use my Own" and browse to Extra above

    4. Boot with USB Installer ( Make sure to plug monitor to DVI, vga is not supported)

    5. Format disk to GUID and Extended Journal and start the build

    6. When prompt, select "Use My Own" and point to Extra on USB Installer

    7. When prompt to remove problematic kexts, select Yes, Yes, No

    8. Wait a few minutes, system will automatically reboot, remove the USB Installer

    9. Complete the installation

    10. Done.

    Working:

    • AMD HD 5450 Full QE/CI

    • Dual Display

    • Sleep/Shutdown/Restart

    • LAN

    • Audio using VoodooHDA 2.8.6

Note: Make sure to set SATA Operation to AHCI. For best result, set it to the Default, apply and then set SATA Operation to AHCI.

/!\ For Mountain Lion install, remove AppleKextExcludeList.kext from bootpack

/!\ For Yosemite Install, see guide here and boot pack posted here
