From the myhack guide: If the USBBusFix=Yes does not help, try using different USB ports, if that fails try to create the installation disk on an internal disk partition rather than a usb.

Honestly with as screwed up as everything is to begin with I would suggest you might want to try this on a clean install on a separate partition - using only myHack and the Extra I gave you. That Extra on your board should work flawlessly.

A user just reported in a blog comment that the lion version of IOATAFamily.kext did indeed work for them on ML. Comment is here: http://myhack.sojugarden.com/2012/07/mo ... mment-5552

I reviewed the diff generated and I don't see any potential conflicts actually - extract that Extra directory I supplied you with somewhere and then use the "Install Extra" option in myhack to install it to your OS X installation - Including my DSDT.aml - it should work fine
-
Use iasl to convert my .aml to a .dsl file But, send me YOUR cleanly extracted dsdt.dsl (attach to your next post) and I'll take a look and do the diff myself, just to make sure it's done right but I still suggest you go through it to see what I've done and to get over the initial intimidation some people have of a dsdt - once you get your feet wet you'll find it's really not that challenging to deal with.

Have you tried the lion compatible IOATAFamily.kext? I have nothing capable of testing with. I somehow doubt anyone will bother to work on one of these again for ML if that one does not work, basically everything out there has AHCI at this point. And the stuff that doesn't can stick with SL or Lion.

First of all use myfix - do not use kextutility. Ever. Only myfix supports running all extensions from /E/E. Second, RealtekR100SL.kext is an ethernet extension, it has nothing to do with audio. Third, your problems are likely do to an unclean install in general. Might I suggest a fresh install using only myhack. I am attaching my /Extra/ from my i7 920 - GA-X58A-UD3R rev1 - I believe it was F6 bios. I had 6GB (3x 2GB) in the system but you should not use the DSDT as it is, you should extract your own from a clean install with only the 'Generic Extra' loaded and then generate a diff between your DSDT.dsl and the one in my package. The memory section should be left as your own, you can use my CPU and HDEF sections as well as other fixes I've included. You should also not use my GFX0/1 section, I didn't double check but at various points in time I had my HD6870 or 9800GTX+ or both injected via the dsdt. The smbios.plist and /Extra/Extensions/ in my package are all you should need to be using on your system. Well that and GraphicsEnabler=Yes - which may not be in my org.chameleon.Boot.plist. Sorry for the delay getting this to you, I just got my new workstation up and running yesterday. Extra.zip

This would be a good solution for people who already have lion on their systems, in my case this was a new build and I had not yet extracted the DSDT (nor did i bother installing linux or windows to do so), and since it was Ivy Bridge, Lion wasn't really an option for me.

I ran into this problem myself when I was setting up my new Ivy Bridge system tonight. Was the first time I tested the HD6870 in ML, worked fine in Lion in the past. The solution was actually not an obvious one as suggested by some of the responders here - but I did work one out which I will discribe briefly. Basically, force VESA mode by simply removing the ATI6000Controller.kext from the myHack OS X Install Disk. I would suggest doing it as follows: In a terminal with the OS X 10.8 myHack OS X Install Disk connected to the system run the following: sudo mv /Volumes/myHack\ OS\ X\ Install\ Disk/System/Library/Extensions/ATI6000Controller.kext /Volumes/myHack\ OS\ X\ Install\ Disk/Extra/RemovedExtensions/ Then run myfix on the myHack OS X Install Disk via the myHack application or terminal. Now boot the myHack OS X Install Disk on the system you were having issues with, use the following Chameleon boot flags: GraphicsEnabler=No -v You will now get to a GUI, with limited and ugly resolution - but it will function. - Don't worry, the HD6870 actually works great in ML itself, this is only an issue with the ML Installer. After installing ML, boot the system to it. You will once again have to boot with the GraphicsEnabler=No -v boot flag. After you get through the initial setup, account creation, etc and login - pop open a terminal and reverse the process you did before. Make sure the myHack OS X Install Disk is attached to the system and run the following command: sudo mv /Volumes/myHack\ OS\ X\ Install\ Disk/Extra/RemovedExtensions/ATI6000Controller.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ This will put the extension back in it's place. Then run myfix again - this time targeting / Once completed, reboot the system - Use GraphicsEnabler=Yes (this is the default value in myhack org.chameleon.Boot.plist so you will not have to type it unless you modified the value in the plist) and enjoy your fully functional HD6870 in ML. Cheers.

You can 'pause' the installer using the Wait=Yes chameleon flag, however, I don't believe this will help you - the symptom you describe is what happens when ML is booted on a system with unsupported/uninitialized graphics. Some things to try are PciRoot=1 or GraphicsEnabler=No What graphics card do you have in this system?
-
Is this a USB installer you are trying to boot? If so I see you are trying the USBBusFix flag and it's not helping the situation - can you crate the installer on an internal SATA device and try to run it from there? (Only need an 8GB partition)

Solved! Need some assistance with my GA-X58A-UD3R rev 1.0

The channel is #hackintosh - people are there, just inactive a lot of the time and takes a while to reply sometimes. I sent you an email just before seeing this post actually - the gist of it is, that system of mine that was identical to yours was destroyed during the move and I haven't yet gotten a new workstation up and running to be able to retrieve any information from the old disks that were in it - when I do, I will send you the Extra right away. Sorry for the delay, but believe me I'm really hurting because of losing that workstation, I've lost two weeks of productivity already and I have a huge deadline coming up - I'm really in the shit actually
