  1. Right, I'm back... After moving house and changing jobs since my last attempt, I'm hoping I can dedicate a little more time to this.

For my next attempt I'll be doing something different - namely, I'll be swapping the motherboard for the nVidia version. It, and a new heatsink, are on their way to me. Should arrive in the next fortnight if everything goes to plan.

I'm probably not going to try again with the Intel HD graphics, it seems to be a lost cause :-(

    In the meantime, I'm enjoying my hac'd D430 running 10.7.5 :-D

    Nice to see you back!

Hopefully the nvidia board will work, and if it doesn't, at least I can help you with it.

  2. First, Awesome Thread!!

I have installed ML 8.2 on my Latitude E6510. E6510 pretty much same as E6410.

I did buy DW 1510 card to get wireless working. Put card in found no problem.

Has anyone happen to get the SD Card Reader working?

    Thanks

    Thank you!

Glad tohear your card is working! The internet is better wireless!

The sd card reader has not worked for me, despite many tries to get it to.

  3. First, thanks for the guide. For weeks I've fought ml and lion (above 10.7.2) to work properly. My main issue, the screen shuts off just after "pci configuration begin". the last time i tried this, i asked on tonycrapx86 and they told me i needed a "dual link patch". i tried to follow their "tutorial" on how to use this patch, but none of the variables they wanted me to find were in my dsdt. So i gave up until I found this guide. I actually got to see the installer this time, however now that it is installed and ready to go, it will not stop turning the screen off. I've tried both dsdt's I've found in this post, as well as setting my graphics mode to 1280x800x32 (as that's my native res) and the screen still shuts off. I remember when i installed snow leo that it required me to use NVEnabler and not Graphics Enabler, but i haven't seen either work with ml.

    System Specs:

    Dell Latitude E6410

    Intel Core i5 560m @ 2.67ghz

    NVIDIA® NVS 3100M (512MB gDDR3)

    14.1" WXGA Anti-Glare LED Display (1280x800)

    8gb ddr3 ram (2x4gb)

320gb WD Scorpio Blue hdd (mountain lion)

160gb WD Scorpio Blue hdd (modular bay, snow leopard 10.6.8)

Broadcom BCM4311KFBG (addon card from old laptop in wwan card slot)

    Intel® Centrino Advanced-N 6200

    Dell Wireless 3755 Bluetooth® 3.0

    Hey Dj Lyriz,

To be honest, I'm not sure what would cause the machine to turn off. Are you sure it turns off and not just the screen that goes blank?

As far as I know, none of the enablers or injectors work with Mountain Lion...

  4. The Intel wireless card really has no chance of working. Most intel cards don't work under OS X.

The card you found from amazon may work. I think something like this would serve you better:

    http://www.amazon.com/Edimax-EW-7811Un-Wireless-Adapter-Wizard/dp/B005CLMJLU/ref=pd_cp_e_1

If you plan on keeping it plugged in when using the internet (which, depending on how you use it, could be for the life of the laptop), it will be less susceptible to damage and easier to use with the laptop.

  5. Hey Fellow Hackintosher's,

First, Thank You!!! Excellent work and I know this stuff is not easy to create and implement. I have successfully set up my E6510 with Intel HD on Mountain Lion 8.2. Much obliged to you all for this great guide!! Just have to get a different wireless card for wifi.

    Happy Holidays to you all!!

Great news! I'm glad it worked for you!

    Happy holidays to you too!

  6. Hey, I have the exact same issue as jansenspencer. Followed the guide to a T multiple times, and each time I end up with the same exact error as him. My Mountain Lion was downloaded 11/1 and I used the 10.8.2 ZIP. I tried moving the AppleIntelHD kexts as you suggested and still the same problem- install fails with about 4 minutes remaining.

Anything else I might try? Thanks!

    Hey malayvanti,

Do you get to select the kexts to remove before the installation fails? Or does it fail before that?

  7. @jensenspencer - you could try booting with the PCIRootUID=0 bootflag like I said in my previous post. I had this error when booting Snow Leopard specifically but it may also work when the same occurs for booting Mountain Lion.

@patel4prez - It's my pleasure to contribute as much as I can. I pay a lot of attention to CPU because it will fail to maintain stability whenever it's got too much load to deal with and it's not optimally used by the system. I got tired of ending up with sssslllllooooowwww downs whenever I had say Photoshop and Safari both opened (!), spinning fans up and heating my laps for nothing really. In fact ML is even more heat-efficient than SL was so I've totally made the switch by now.

Regarding your DSDT, I had patched mine with the file found on olarila too, as well as tweaked it a bit to get shutdown and VGA from fixes found for E6510. However this was ages ago so the file has probably been updated since and incorporates various fixes, like restart to our delight.

Yeah, Safari gives me loads of error messages in the Console (CGSWindow or something, be it relevant or not), and just (h)eats CPU after some time. I actually read your reply while on Chrome and haven't changed since because it's definitely more stable than Safari on my system. So everything fine on this side now.

Say, I spotted the E6400 ML thread in these forums looking for a sleep solution on the E6410. You provide an answer which is installing sleepenabler, changing hibernatemode to 0 and disabling safe sleep. Have you tested this on the E6410? It'd be nice to have sleep working. In SL I could only manage to sleep and wake ONCE, then entering sleep again would force me to hard reset the laptop.

Also I read somewhere (maybe on that same thread) that someone got 2 fingers scrolling to work on a E6400. I couldn't figure whether the latter has ALPS or Synaptics touchpad. Apparently it makes a difference because ALPS seem to have a significantly poorer design, and the E6410 is stuck with it.

    Hey jebediah,

I have not had any luck getting sleep to work on the E6410 even by changing the hibernatemode to 0; I pretty much gave up on it since. Because you managed to get it working once, I will try again this weekend.

As for the touchpad, the 6400 has a Synaptics touchpad, which has better driver support under osx. Our 6410s however have Alps touchpads, which don't play too nice with the multitouch aspect of osx. Still, I keep checking now and then to see if anything new has been developed....

  8. the graphics is NV3100, anyway i got the Mountain lion installed finally ! perfect and looks more stable than lion.

i just install manually one by one for the kext, looks the voodoohda and touchpad (mine should be ALPS) kext not compatible with my E6410, so i used the old kext for touchpad (from lion), for voodoohda, just follow the FAQ to change deviceID&vendorID. now fully working....

Thanks for your great great help !:)

    Great job!

Do you think you could upload your modified kext here for voodoohda in case others have the same issue?

  9. hi bro i got same model e6410, and got the lion 10.7.4 running perfect, but by following your guide after install finished it says ' install failed '

reboot anyway, by using -v model, the system stuck at ' pci configuration begin', replace with my 10.7.4 kext (applecpiplatform.kext, ioacpifamily.kext, iopcifamily.kext) but still failed, any idea ?

    Intel Graphics or NVIDIA Graphics?

Did you use the right E6410 ML zip file for your Mountain Lion version (ex. if you have the latest Mountain Lion installer (10.8.2) you have to use the latest E6410 ML.zip (E6410 ML 10.8.2.zip).

Also, make sure you boot from the USB drive after you install and then select your hard drive/partition from the USB Bootloader...

  10. Hey jebediah,

Thank you very much for sharing that information! I will be honest in saying that I really didn't think to much about the CPU usage in Mountain Lion on are 6410s until I read it!

I have added a link to your post to the end of the guide for now, and hope to integrate it when I am able to find the time.

As for your questions asked at the end:

    I made the DSDT by using DSDT Editor and a patch for the 6410 under Mountain Lion, after I got about 90% of the machine working. I too was surprised when shutdown and reboot worked! After I applied the patch, I didn't do any tweaking. I simply applied it and fixed any errors that occurred (I can't remember if there were any;

    there may not have been)

Safari has never really been a problem for me, even when using it with lots of tabs open. I did notice the fans turn on when under that kind of load, but it never froze up or rendered the system useless for any period of time. I may not be the best person to respond to your question, however, because I mainly use Chrome :)

Once again, thank you very much!

  11. Hi patel4prez,

thanks for the quick response. I've done as you suggested. There was no bootloader present on the mashine. I used the bootloader from the usb stick. In normal boot up no spinning weel but the apple logo appeared and after a while the laptop coolers went quite and nothing happens. In verbose mode the last message was:

    MAC Framework successfully initialized

using 16384 buffer headers and 10240 cluster IO buffer headers

    IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 64:87

    ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5]

    PIM64 (36 cpu) 0xf80000000, 0x80000000

    [PCI configuration begin]

than again the mashine went quiet.

    Many thanks in advance!

Did you use the E6410 ML 10.8.2.zip to create the installer?

  12. I tried this guide yeserday with a recently downloaded os x 10.8.2 on my Latitude e6410. At the end of the installation process it was pointed out that os x could not be installed on my system. The log mentioned error code 121 (kextcache .71 ..something..). What have I done wrong?

I don't think you did anything wrong (so far as I can tell from the information you have given me); this sometimes happens on Hacintosh systems. It says the install failed but in reality, everything went fine!

If you can reboot into Mountain Lion, should be good. From there you can continue with the guide.

If not, reboot with "-v" (without quotes) and post the place where it hangs at here.

    Good luck!
