E6410 with nVidia NVS 3100M graphics - Mountain Lion Guide

Good to hear you got it working so easily, DLonkOz! As for the audio through the dock, try holding down the windows key and clicking on the volume icon in the taskbar. Then click on "Line Out". When you disconnect from the dock, you can do the same again, but instead choose "Speakers" from the list, to play audio through the speakers again. The only issue I have found with this workaround is that it gets quite annoying . Currently, I am working on a solution to do this automatically. Hopefully I can finish it soon. -

The fact that your Wi-Fi dies during the upgrade means the install is working/worked. Apple improved Wi-Fi on the macs in this update but broke it on our hacs -

Hey TheRealBigBudz, I'm really sorry, but I didn't get a chance to test my VGA port on my 6410 yet...been extremely busy this week. I will hopefully get to test it over the weekend. -

Hello all, Though I can't say much about how to get VGA working, I can say that as far as the zips are concerned, alll the graphics-related kexts in them HAVE NOT changed since the I itial release. Only additions/modifications to disk/pci specific kexts have been made. Could it be one of the pci kexts? Also, for those of you that have it working, what version of OS X are you on? I believe apple added/changed support for nvidia video cards in 10.8.4 which could have inadvertently changed our configuration. Lastly, I am not sure at the moment if my VGA is working but will yes ASAP on Monday and report back. So far, I have had success using an eternal monitor with the full size dock and DVI. -

Okay, so I checked the BIOS and there isn't an option to enable/disable the VGA output; my bad! Guess I've been working on too many systems in the past few month... Also, the kexts you'd need to delete/replace are the ones beginning with "NV" (or Nvidia) in S/L/E... -

Not sure why that's happening. As far as I know, that shouldn't happen (at least due to the RAM upgrade). Can you boot with -f? If you can, get to myHack and run a myFix. -

Dumb question, but is the vga output enabled in the bios? -

In system preferences, head over to displays, and hold down the windows key or alt key (forgot which one) and you'll see a "Detect Displays" button in the bottom right of the window pop out of nowhere. Hit it and enjoy -

Screenshots will most likely not capture the "fuzziness", however a camera may... Also, does this "fuzziness" appear in Windows/the BIOS/anywhere else as well? -

Yes, the current conclusion is that OS X runs hotter on our machines than Windows. I too have noticed the fan gets hot and not so much the CPU/GPU... We believe it is the Speed Stepping (or the lack thereof) which relates to the DSDT and other kexts (like nullcpumanagement). No solid fix as of yet. -

Good to hear you got it working! As for the -f issue, a simple permissions repair using kext wizard should get you up and running without -f in a few minutes. Repair both s/l/e and extra... And yes the WiFi card should work fine if you have the broadcom kexts in /extra... -

Did you try to integrate the multitouch kexts with the installer? If not, try installing the all the voodoo kexts in \extra from e6410 ml folder on your system using kext wizard. -

Looks like you guys have been busy! I've been pretty busy too, so sorry for the absense. Since I don't know an awful lot about DSDTs and the like, I am happy to do any testing and make changes as requested... -

I believe that is the only patch I applied to the DSDT. No other changes were made by me. Also, I too get the battery icon as an X at the login screen (sometimes) but when I log in, it displays the correct percentage remaining/charging. -

I have an eject button that works. next to my clock. An odd thing that I've noticed is that the hardware eject button on the drive may not always work but the software button does. My drive is the same one that came with the machine. It is TSSTcorp dvd+-rw ts-u633j (according to the system information utility)
