Welcome, c0unter! I wish you a warm welcome on behalf of all of us here at OSXLatitude! Good luck Hackintosh-ing!
-
Do you have a Dell Wireless 1510 or other compatible Wi-Fi card? If you have the intel one that came with the laptop, it will not work with OS X.
-
Intel or Nvidia? If you are using safari, try chrome.

Dual booting is definitely possible ! I'm typing this from my E6410 running Windows 8.1 and OS X 10.9! From Windows, get a program like Minitool Partition Wizard and shrink the Primary partition to whatever size you want (just make sure it's greater than about 8-10 GB; I just split my disk in half, so half for windows and half for OS X) and then reboot into the OS X installer and format the second part of the disk as "Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)." Remember, MBR disks can only handle 4 partitions, so if you have 3 partitions dedicated only to Windows, you'll need to remove at least 1 to install OS X, because OS X needs 2 (one for OS X, the other as an EFI partition). Take a look here to find out how to remove the Windows "System Reserved" partition (do parts 1 and 3 without BootIt). Also, if you have a "Reader" partition, that can be removed too if you don't use it. Also, if you get the error from the installer again, try recreating the installer and selecting "yes" in myHack to MBR Support. It should throw back an error, saying 10.9 doesn't have support yet, but when it finishes, just add the files from the MBR support folder and you should be good to go.

That's not a lame question! Try popping out your hard drive and booting from the USB drive to see what happens...
-
Hey Pablo, Thanks for your contributions! How did you get the SD Card Reader to work under Mavericks? I will try and add the Shutdown fix to the troubleshooting section of the guide ASAP.
-
Hey Bigman, What kind of issues are you experiencing? P.S. Thanks for holding back and not asking the same questions!
-
Do you have a working network connection?
-
Good to know... I believe the Fn+F1 is a sleep command built into the BIOS, so instead of OSX managing the take down of all the components, the laptop's BIOS does... That could be totally wrong. That's just my theory.
-
The -f can be fixed by changing the "UseKernelCache" in org.chameleon.boot.plist to "No"...
-
Take a look at deano's post here and try to install his kexts: https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/3115-mavericks-on-e6410-nvidia/?p=29103
-
Try installing chameleon from the installation drive (boot to the installer, go to utilities, and then myhack)...
-
Glad that worked! I have to update the Post Installation ASAP to install the Ethernet kext...just have to find the time!
-
Did you run the Post Installation app after installing? Did you change the name of the USB drive after myHack created the installer?
-
Did you open up System Preferences -> Network, -> wait for the confirmation message -> and hit Apply?

E6410 with nVidia NVS 3100M graphics - Mountain Lion Guide

Hey enveous, First off, let's talk about your problem. I trust you removed the AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext? If you did, try typing "graphicsenabler=no" at boot and seeing if that solves your problem. If it does, I have a few more steps to give you to make it permanent. Now, about the Quartz Extreme/Core Image (QE/CI), (according to my extremely limited understanding) they are both parts of Hardware Acceleration in regards to Graphics. Some video cards are completely unsupported and won't support QE/CI at all. Others only support CI or QE, whilst others support both QE/CI. The Intel graphics on your E6410 support CI only. -
Try running a chkdisk /f (the /f to fix any errors found) on windows...I've had this error before and it was due to a windows partition with errors...
-
That's pretty odd...try running a myFix Full through myHack one last time...
-
In the org.chameleon.boot.plist, under "UseKernelCache", change the "Yes" to "No"

Thanks for clearing that up! The previous bios version was A14, for future reference . If you could test out deano's kexts if/when he gets a chance to post them, that would be great. Thank you very much guys, for helping me test this out and solve the problems.
-
Hey deano, Great news! If you could post the fakesmc and appleacpiplatform kexts in the form of a zip file, that would be great. And if DLinkOZ can test those out on his current setup (don't install chimera (chameleon, stolen and rebranded)), and report back. That would be amazing.
-
Hey DLinkOZ, It seems like you pretty much solved the issue, but since I've been extremely busy and not very connected to the forums as of late, can you please give me a quick run-down of what is/how you solved the problem? From what I understand, the Keyboard/Controller kext mixed with the A15 BIOS is what causes the issue, and the way to resolve it is to remove the keyboard kext.... That might be totally wrong, and if it is, please correct me. I would love to include it in the troubleshooting section of the guide for anyone else that has the same issue.
-
+1 to posting the Extra folder. I believe the only chameleon argument he is using is "-x" to get the system to boot... Also, DLinkOz, if you can post yours, I believe you are having the same error, so we can compare both of your Extra folders

Try installing Chameleon to the Hard Drive from myHack - Boot to the Installation Drive, in Utilities, Click on myHack, and Install Chameleon to the Hard Drive you put OS X on.
