As bad as it sounds, I would try and re-create the installation disk. Sometimes, things just go inexplicably wrong and all that a problem needs to be solved it a fresh start. I would format using disk utility, recreate the installation disk (and remember to delete those two kexts for the graphics), and try the install again. Good luck! You're so close!

Depending on the version of Mountain Lion you are using, try and replace the AppleACHIFamily& IOAHCIFamily.kexts with the patched ones from the first post.

Does the error occur on the installation disk or the e6410s hard drive?

Hi infamousdice, If you are working on trying to boot the installation disk, try removing the DSDT.aml in /Extra and see if that works for you. If you are trying to remove it from a recent install, let me know and I'll post the instructions with how to do it from the installation disk's terminal.

Hello again Bigman (don't worry, I haven't forgotten you)! As far as I know, the E6410 has QE/CI already. I've tried opening DVD Player, disabling the Dashboard as space and adding a widget to see if there were ripples, and noticing an overall smooth experience to test it, all of which point to there being QE and CI with the current configuration.

As Herve said, the Intel wireless card is not supported. The kexts in /Extra/Extensions are meant for the Broadcom 4322/Dell Wireless 1510. EDIT: My mistake, I meant the Broadcom 4322, not 4311 as the 4322 is wireless-n capable.

Great work on getting OS X running! As Jake Lo wrote, unfortunately, the DW1501/4313 will not work with OS X. Your best bet would be to purchase a Dell Wireless 1510/Broadcom 4311 internal wireless card, or a Mac compatible external air card (Like the Netgear n150; I believe someone posted the driver for it somewhere in this thread).

Have you tried booting into the installer one more time? Sometimes it will just freeze at a random point, and when you try again, it will work. Try booting with '-v' again and post the last 1-3 lines when it freezes.

I believe windows needs to be on an ntfs partition, not fat or fat32 to show up in the bootloader. I may be wrong, so I wouldn't start formatting that second partition just yet...

Try putting the VoodooBattery.kext from the E6410 ML.zip in the first post in /Extra/Extensions using Kext Wizard. That should work. Not sure why it doesn't right now... Did you try another reboot? If it doesn't, post back here and let us know!

Well, after trying to play the trailer in HD (good show, btw), I too got the same error! I guess I never tried playing anything that used HDCP before... I will investigate this further by trying it on my external monitor when I get home, one that I know supports HDCP for a fact and see what happens; maybe itunes isn't lying and our internal LCDs don't support HDCP. As a temporary workaround, I have found that if you get the SD version of the trailer (or any other video you want to watch), it will play just fine.

I've got a couple questions for you regarding the HDCP problem: 1.) What exactly are you trying to play and using what player (itunes, quicktime, vlc, etc)? 2.) Are you using an external monitor with the laptop? Hopefully I can help you a bit more based on your answers.

Sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday... Work caught up with me. When I was first putting OSX on the 6410, the trackpad was actually recognized as a trackpad before I added any kexts. The problem was it didn't work at all... The nub didn't either, and when I added the other kexts to make it work, that was when it changed to be recognized as a mouse and became functional. I settled for functional, reason being that our touchpads are not synaptics touchpads, like most. Ours are alps touchpads, which don't have the greatest drivers to begin with and support for multi-touch under OSX.

Oops! I totally read your problem wrong! I thought you saw the monitor under "About my mac"! My bad. I see the LCD display too under More info... As far as HDCP goes, I have it on mine. Not sure what I changed/did to get it but I will look into it...

Cool. I'll check it out later. Here is an smbios.plist that should correctly identify your system. Just move your old smbios.plist somewhere safe and place the new one in /Extra. You'll have to enter your password and reboot to see the change take place. smbios.plist.zip

Okay, well, you don't have -f as a boot flag, so unless you're manually typing it in (which you shouldn't have to do), the machine is booting without it. As for your Monitor-showing-up-under-about-this-Mac issue, yes it is fixable. All it means is you have an incorrect smbios.plist in /Extra. I can post a correct one here later. Just curious, but which pack did you use to install mountain lion? the normal one + 10.8.1, 10.8.2, or 10.8.3? I only ask so I can see if the smbios in the pack is wrong too.

You're welcome! I'm sorry that it is as complicated as it is. Hopefully I can simplify some things in the near future. As for the -f flag in chameleon, it shouldn't be set by default. If it is, it is quite easy to remove. In order to check this, take a peek in the org.chameleon.Boot.plist in /Extra (Open a new Finder window, and press Alt + Shift + G simultaneously, type in "/Extra" without quotes, and hit enter). Open the file with TextEdit. Copy and paste the content of the file here. I just want to make sure whether or not you do have a -f as a boot flag, and if you do, tell you the right way to get rid of it.

In my experience, the prohibited sign almost always means that the machine is getting stuck at: Still waiting for root device... So whatever you did to fix that, that should be the fix for w762nato...

Hello and welcome to the forum! Yes, you must add the 10.8.2 folder (the first folder that is extracted from the E6410 ML 10.8.2.zip file) and simply copy it to the USB Installer along with the original E6410 ML folder from the E6410 ML.zip file. So to summarize, two folders have to be copied over to the installer. As for the kexts you need to remove for the Intel Graphics to work, I'm not even sure if anyone that got it running removed those kexts or not. jansenspencer, Bigman, and I believe alerphjuan all have Intel Graphics, so I would wait for one of their responses to see what they did.
