haha, wish I had the free time to do it. Just way too busy at work right now. It's our peak season!

It would be nice if we had a script that would allow for pen creation using both mac and pc. or create an iso using mac or pc. Prompt the user to install their snow leopard install dvd and then create the needed iso image based on their system.just thinking of how much support will be devoted to walking every single person through the install time and time again with all the different systems. Totally would be easier to just make a script to take care of it all.

Just as an FYI to those trying to install snow from scratch on your D630 x3100 that the current pen install will not work. I was able to create a pen install only with the current edp setup for the d630 as well as having to replace IOATAFamily.kext with the attached one, and let me know if it fixes the panic. The problem is apparently to do with the original 10.6 version and a disabled secondary ide port. Here's everything you need to get your pen install up and working. Rename the archive Extra and copy the extract to your install image. After installing update to 10.6..6 but remove the IOATAFamily.kext and rebuild using edptool. Pen install for D630-X3100.zip

Gray Screen Freezes on Bootup with Second Display
Thund3rbolt replied to broham028's topic in The Archive
/edit - I was about to post you should try the secondary after boot but re-reading I see you have. Like Leon said more info but also can you go to System Preferences Click Displays and Click "Detect Displays"and see what that says? -
10.6.7 build number10J842 seeded to developers…
Thund3rbolt replied to Leon's topic in The Archive
I wonder how many more updates Snow will get with Lion about to be released. It's probably going to be like Leopard and freeze with maybe one or 2 updates after Lion is released. Does anyone know what Lion will be like? -

rofl! I've seen a few of those too. One where the wife threw the laptop at hubby. Something or other about facebook messages from an old girlfriend! *snicker* The poor computer always pays the price! Pretty sure u can find the slotload drive on ebay with a faceplate. I think there was a model of Acer that had a slotload DL drive as well.
-
I had pulled it from a dead macbook a few months ago and just recently found a faceplate for it but u can buy the whole thing complete on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.ca/A...=item5d26d25070 Juts took the front panel and cut the corner ( dremel and sandpaper) so the device removal mechansim could still work then reassembled. It's definitely a nice touch in making it more mac like. I also swapped out the mini pci wireless for a Broadcom N I pulled from another macbook. http://www.broadcom....ions/BCM94321MC .. nice having N as well.
-
I wasn't happy with my Dell stock dvdrom drive so I pulled it and modded it for a slot load DL DVDRW. Totally worth doing and 1 step closer to being a real mac.

Hey Leon ... u seen this: http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/index.php/notebook-macos-hacks/33-do-you-have-problems-when-your-computer-wakes-from-sleep it's a sleepwatcher package that will issue commands before and after sleep via scripting.
-
fantastic! It just gets better and better all the time! <grin> maybe mention the bt issue but for now I'm a pretty happy camper. Not having to use a bios system pass to sleep and having usb working on wake is nice!
-
The net's riddled with this problem even on genuine macs. I just disabled the bt detect in the bios for now and enable when I need it I think. That works for me. The only issue I'd like to resolve now is the microphone detection. Using bronx's VoodooHDA I don't get mic support but if I use the one I found it works .. only trouble is the sound is garbled on wake from sleep with mine. ideas? I'm one step away from what I would call a perfect hackintosh bt aside.I wonder if soundflower could resolve teh garbled sound on wake?
-
I don't see it as an option in the bios.maybe I'm missing it .. what menu should it be under? edit: I found the wake on usb under power management. It's currently set to off which I'm assuming it should be. edit: Well I'll be a Monkey's uncle! The system deep slow sleeps without a system pass, wakes up AND usb is fully hot and working .. just as long as there's no bt installed. So .. now I'm asking myself just how important is that bt adapter.. wanna buy it? lol!
-
Hey Leon... interesting stuff I found. If I put the system to sleep the bt flashes after 10-15 secs and wakes up the system. I noticed that allow bluetooth to wake system is greyed in "advanced bt setting". So I trashed the com.apple.bluetooth.plist .. no change. I again put the system to sleep and it re-awoke in 15 secs as before with the prompt to input system pass. I just left it sittng there for 2 mins and low and behold it went to sleep after the prompt for system pass. deep sleep slow pulsing. Forced an awake no usb as per. I then removed the system pass, rebooted, put the system to sleep, left it 15 secs it re-awoke. However ... the usb mouse was working when it woke itself. So no deep sleep but no dead usb on wake. what do u think?I'm going to remove the bt and try putting the system to sleep without a system pass to see what happens.
-
It looks like apple's power management to me. You tried adding pmVersion=21 to the boot string?
-
That's a no go. Waiting for boot volume ... forever and ever. Any idea why it's waking on it's own? It's almost like it's really not going into deep sleep ... trying to switch something off and when it can't waking up. edit: bingo .. found the bad child that doesn't like to go to sleep and it's name is bluetooth. I removed the bt module and it totally solved the waking from sleep. Just not sure how I can fix that since I really like having bt on my system,
-
at the chameleon screen type these options -s -v -x then if it boots run Leon's magic cd /Extra ./edptool.command I would recommend you choose to disable Apple's power management too.
-
It should work on my d630 though as it supports opengl 2.0 according to Apple Developer: http://developer.apple.com/graphicsimaging/opengl/capabilities/ Probably something other than the opengl is causing it to sig. yes.. annoying birds!

supplemental.zipInstalled edp 1.5 rc5 / Chameleon v2.0-RC5 R665 / 10.6.6 and ran testing. (Please note these are the results for the D630 X3100 with A17 bios) -audio lag especially off the top menu bar volume set and no microphone support. HOWEVER the voodooHDA I supplied in other thread (see kext development) caused garbled audio on wake from sleep. So it's 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. I guess it depends on which is more important ie mic support or sleep. - no speedstep since apple power management is disabled ( as mentioned in edp install) However speedstep works with voodoopower.kext that I posted in kext thread. - system wakes from sleep after 10 seconds without touching the system. Not sure if this is because of 10.6.6 update or some other problem. - long restarts from osx before post appears. Very strange behaviour waiting for the system to post. 10-15 seconds of dead time. This has been happening before the latest edp however. - usb still doesn't work after wake from sleep. - battery shows 99% charge and 20 mins to complete but never fully charges. Those are all the known issues to date. Hope it helps everyone. update: Erroneous battery status fixed by using VoodooBattery from previous edp. Here are all the kexts that I feel give the BEST tradeoff for the D630 X3100. This would assume that mic is more important than sleep if not then don't install the VoodooHDA and take sleep as being more important than mic. supplemental.zip

Is the audio kext for the d630 x3100 included that I posted a few days ago?

Whatever you do don't get suckered into buying angry birds from the app store! It doesn't work unless you have Open GL 2.0 support. No mention of this on the site when you go to d/l though. Total bs money grab imo and wondering how many millions Rovio has stolen from peeps in the last 2 days. They really know how to put the Grrrr in Angry birds is all I can say. /rant

The 10.6.6 update on the Dell D630 x3100 went without so much as a hiccup! Simply edited the com.apple.plist for pmVersion=21 then d/l 10.6.6 update from apple and apply. *poof* 2 mins later I'm up and running and EVERYTHING works incl. sleep.
