  1. Hey EVH,

I would suggest to use Clover. Im also assuming that it is the intel version?

Install Clover (find 5108) with options on "Install Clover in ESP",  "Boot Sector - Install bootaf in MBR" and "Clover for BIOS Booting - SATA".

Then replace the EFI folder with one attached. It has minimum kext to get things up and running.

Reboot and select the installer or hard disk to boot. I tested this with Mac OS Lion 10.7.

    Regards.

  2. Hey EVH,

EDP has reached its "end of life" cycle some while ago.

You can use clover (so far tested till 5070) with only config.plist mainly for MBP5.1 smbios injection, DSDT.aml from old EDP and minimum 10.7 32 bit kext to boot the install and main system.

I just last week put back mac os lion life on my old dead D520 but with more modern bootloader LOL

    Regards.

  3. battery life is dependant on minimising power hogging things. disable whatever devices that you dont need 😀

also set your brightness as low as u can comfortably read and work

also refrain from running too much stuff in the background

oh also try to use the m.2 sata drive as opposed to mechanical drives. they are more power efficient.

just some few tips to prolong your battery life

  4. Dear @fndklm

    Thank you for the post.

Yeah, wifi card is optional and related kext may need to be installed if the stock wifi card or kext cannot be used. Good to know that the stock wifi card can be used. Maybe you can attach those kexts so that i can make it available for others to download & include in their bootpacks.

For the sound, the bootpack is using voodoohda.kext atm. U can try to use applealc.kext and see if there is any difference.

The sleep wake freezing could be related to hdmi sound or nvidia gpu not being disabled.

I will look further into the issues above.

    Cheers!

  5. Dear all,

Finally managed to both update from beta 1 to beta 2 or clean install beta 2 to a new hard disk.

    BigSur_b2.jpg

I had to run the install app from an existing Mac OS system as my bootpack is still not able to boot a usb installer created using createmediainstall.

Bootpack can be obtained from here : https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/10090-gigabyte-h81m-ds2-i3-4330-hd7750-sierra-high-sierra-mojave-catalina-big-sur/

Will investigate this further and report back.

    Cheers!

    EDIT 11 July 2020

Alright, managed to boot the usb installer. As @Jake Lo advised, with latest lilu we can omit all those -lilubetaall vsmcgen=1 booter-fileset-kernel booter-fileset-basesystem stuff.

Make sure to reset nvram on first boot of the OC and boot the usb installer on reboot.

Also looks like "booter-fileset-kernel & booter-fileset-basesystem" need to be remove when booting usb only and 1st stage installation. 2nd stage looks like it still need those to boot.

    Cheers!

  6. Hi everyone!

I finally managed to run macOS Big Sur Beta 1 on my 4th gen desktop hack using the following guide https://www.olarila.com/topic/8977-guide-installrestore-bigsur-with-opencore/.

    BigSur_b1.jpg

So far cloning from a real Mac installation is the only way to get Big Sur running on a hackintosh as the installer still does not boot from opencore or clover.

OpenCore bootpack can be obtained from here: https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/10090-gigabyte-h81m-ds2-i3-4330-hd7750-sierra-high-sierra-mojave-catalina-big-sur/.

Will report again once I find a way to boot usb installers.

    Happy hackintoshing!
