[SOLVED] AppleHDA Audio stopped working since update to 10.13.6 - Optiplex 3020 MT with GTX 1050 TI

when I have audio over DP it seems to be random. If I achieve it from a cold boot then it is a gamble if I will have it again after either a restart or a complete shut down and boot.

 

I haven't booted into windows for a while so I can't comment on that

what audio codec does the GTX 1050 have?

Make sure you're using the correct layout-id for it

the only reference to and audio codec for the GTX 1050 I can find is the audio-codec-info shown in the screenshot.     <00 01 05 00>

Try adding HDMIAudio to /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other

No joy still. I read that you can edit the AppleALC kext to point to the codec for the gtx 1050. Unfortunately I have no idea how to compile the source code in Xcode

ok so that didn’t work either. New plan. Can you recommend a eGPU that will work?

From my research of GTX 1050, you can only get DP Audio and not HDMI Audio, but according to your screenshot above, you're connected through HDMI. Also not all DP port will have audio, so will have to maybe remove and re plug or try different DP ports.

Can you post IOReg when DP Audio is working and when it's not working?
