JDubU
Just cleared the log and did a shutdown. Re: BIOS settings, I have pretty obvious things (and there's no difference between A17 or A18 versions): Onboard Devices: . Integrated NIC = enabled . Internel modem = enabled . External USB ports = enabled . Parallel port = ECP . Serial port = COM1 . PC Card and 1390 = enabled . SATA Operation = AHCI . Module Bay Device = Enabled . Flash Cache Module = Off . Internal Cellular = Enabled . Wireless Switch = All . Wi-Fi Catcher = Enabled . LAN/Wi-Fi Auto Switch = Off Thanks for listing all of your BIOS settings!! Mine now match yours exactly but I still have the kernelcache rebuild failure. There are some interesting entries at the end of your log file: ... Oct 5 09:18:57 id630ml.home com.apple.kextd[12]: /: giving up; kextcache hit max failures Oct 5 09:18:57 id630ml.home shutdown[5845]: halt by admin: Oct 5 09:18:57 id630ml.home shutdown[5845]: SHUTDOWN_TIME: 1349421537 560130 Oct 5 09:18:57 id630ml kernel[0]: Kext loading now disabled. ... The entries: "giving up; kextcache hit max failures" and "Kext loading now disabled" seem to indicate that your system is also having some sort of kernelcache problems. Could it be that it is not using the kernelcache at all so it is not trying to rebuild it on shutdown? Is there a way to completely disable the use of the kernelcache? I have already tried disabling it in chameleon.boot.plist but that seems to only affect whether the kernelcache is used for bootup. The OS is still trying to rebuild the kernelcache on shutdown (and failing).
Administrators Leon Posted October 5, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 5, 2012 Can you just run a full disk check and with file system verification using disk utility

Administrators Leon Posted October 5, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 5, 2012 hmm.. now.. thats just weird.. have you tried without appleHDA but with voodooHDA instead ?
JDubU
and try using vodooHDA when you do the build... I tried using vodooHDA instead of AppleHDA #2 yesterday but I got a kernel panic while EDP was still executing (possibly during cache rebuild but not sure). I did a hard reset but then OSX would not boot. It got stuck at the spinning gear that normally appears just before the desktop comes up.
Administrators Leon Posted October 5, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 5, 2012 i know.. the problem is that osx dynamicly loads kexts and kps when voodoohda is dynamicly loaded.. try booting in single user mode (console only) via -x -s -f -v then do a build there where you choose voodooHDA.. it wont be able to build kernel cache, so the next time you come into osx run: myfix -q -t / .. and see where it leads... What command(s) do I use to run EDP in single user mode?
Administrators Leon Posted October 5, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 5, 2012 When you boot into chameleon, then type: -x -v -f -s and hint enter..
