thanks for your reply,

the xp install is on the DG45ID at present, i do however have a vista install on the D520 in question only it failed activation ages ago and has been left not booted since, guess it wont hurt to reboot and have a look lol, "i only installed it to update iphone" is it possible that site staff might be able to provide extracted hdr from http://www.osxlatitude.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/D520-Intel-OSX_SLIC_LOGO.zip

i guess the main board i would like to get functional installation on would be G41M-VS3 R2.0 with IntelQuad CPU and 8GB RAM

just found : - https://osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/252-04032011-d520-bios-rework/

SLIC 2.1 for Windows 7 / Vista

Mmm, well, not all custom BIOS were successful, so careful... If you don't have an operational Win install, create a recovery USB key with a basic DOS bootable installation like Unetbootin. Then simply copy the downloadable exec from Dell on it and run it. That'll update your BIOS.

If I were you I'd stick to standard/regular BIOS A08 and use regular DSDT file.

Re: .hdr extraction, a little home work will suffice. I'd even expect you to find the magic trick in less than a minute... ;)

you say use the one from dell, that implies community mod is not working ?

extraction from exe is cool now windows is running, just updating.

its not seen the light of day since 15/8/2012 not sure if os version is correct the coa is missing but its oem so gave it cert and key, just waiting on the reboots.

Some custom BIOSes caused problems. I don't know about the D520, I don't own one; so, as explained in the thread, try it/use it at your own risk... Just be prepared. Anyway, this is not the place to discuss BIOS updates or Windows. This is a thread about Lion on D520.

D520 is running smooth. If I use Joe's DSDT with the VGA out fix, its almost perfect.

Sleep/Hibernation works. Display won't wake up after sleep/hibernation, even with a hotcorner display sleep setting. However, tapping "Enter" seems to wake the display back up.

Still see "Refusing" errors after running EDP, but they don't seem to make any difference. They are all kexts I know to be running. Not a big deal.

All in all, a decent running D520.
