Guest macaroni
I was just wondering if anyone has successfully modded the bios to allow booting from the sd card slot.? Obviously we can boot from a usb stick/drive, but there are times where it would be convenient to just boot off sd, maybe a super light linux distro or the like to get quick internet/email access, etc. If you have done this - would love to hear your results, maybe others would be interested too (I didn't see a post on it, but I'm sure many have already considered the idea) Any info? Thanks.

stefek99
Thats such a shame... My HHD is full of bad sectors and was thinking of replacing it with just an sd card. Tough life

stefek99
YEAH, just purchased. What to expect when installing 10.8.2 ? (I don't fell like using Windows anymore) Is SDXC (up to 2TB) supported or SDHC only (up tp 32GB). 32GB as an extra storage should be sufficient, just asking... Administrators Hervé Posted October 27, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 27, 2012 You won't be installing ML 10.8 on a D430 for sure. Lion 10.7 at best, but SL 10.6 performs much better and will do so nicely on an SSD.
Administrators Bronxteck Posted October 28, 2012 Administrators Share Posted October 28, 2012 the sd slot will not work in osx.
stefek99
10.6 10.7 10.8 - I was hoping that "latest greatest" means performant and optimized. 10.6.8 then. SD card - BUUU - it fits so perfectly, shame that's not working, AFAIR Alienwares also don't like SD slot...
stefek99
OK! SSD delivered. Now the funny part begins! Thank you for pointing me in the right direction (Mountain Lion no go). On this occasion I would like to ask one more time for advice: which flavour of OS X? My goal: do it fairly quickly, save time by not solving impossible problems but just by getting things done. Which flavour should I use? http://www.macgeekblog.com/blog/archive/2009/02/15/osx86-live-dvd-ipc-x-dl-1056.html There are many distros out there to run Mac OS X on a PC hardware. Kalyway, iFail, Leo4all, Jas, iFail, iPC, etc… Here is a guide using this ditro: http://robaldred.co.uk/2009/06/dell-latitude-d430-osx86-install-guide-using-ipc-ppf5-final/ Any suggestions? Please help...
