Pupilliam
I did use the MBR patch due to the fact that I want Windows. Have any tips for use with another distro? Just like kexts and settings I might use if I used a different distro?
Administrators Bronxteck Posted November 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2013 you don't have to use a distro just google for a perl maverick mbr script and apply it to the installer.
Administrators Hervé Posted November 27, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 27, 2013 You can install Windows on GUID partitions, so no need for the MBR patch... It's a simple matter of formatting the Win partition as FAT in Mac OS Disk Utility before you proceed with Windows installation and reformatting NTFS. Pupilliam
I can't find any MBR scripts for Mavericks. Herve, when I attempt Windows install with GUID, the installer won't let me... UEFI BIOS is required to install Windows on GUID. Any tips?

Pupilliam
Never Windows 8. 7 also gave me the same message. I'm installing XP x64 anyways... So, do you have any way for me to fix this problem? Thanks for all of the help
cole2013
Configure your BIOS setup as per recommended settings listed in the pinned thread. It looks like you have IDA enabled when your D830 is fitted with a Merom CPU. Sorry for perhaps looking ignorant, but where can I find the recommended settings for the d830?
